Loyalty by Blinkblink is an excellent Castiel&Dean fic, taking place between On the Head of a Pin and The Rapture. Has whumpy-but-kickass!Castiel, intelligent/tough/half-naked Dean, and something that resembles a plot. Dean and Castiel get hunted briefly, for being what they are.
Blinkblink has a talent for capturing the otherworldliness of Castiel without making him ethereal or unfeeling. He's just weird; steadfast, secretive, caring but holding his distance. And her Dean is absolutely spot-on: witty, sarcastic, freaked-out and angry!Season4!Dean. The enemies they are up against are believably threatening. And her description of angel!speak - 'papery whispers' - is just love.
Gen, PG-13 for violence/language. Dean&Castiel adventure!fic.

ETA: For like the last three days or so I feel like I've been waiting for the internet to do something. I don't know what I'm expecting it to do. But whatever it is, it better be AWESOME because I'm kind of tired of all the waiting.
