[GIANT ALIEN ROBOTS] Second viewing!
So halcyonjazz called to tell me she tried to go see T:RotF but the sound was all f'ed up (which, in light of lionel's recent post, makes me lol even harder). So while I was on the phone with her she went to try to see it a second time, and I decided, what the hell, I'll go see it again right now too and we can freak out at each other when we both get out of the theater at roughly the same time (my showing starting 15 minutes after hers).
Guys. Guys. EVEN MORE EPIC THE SECOND TIME AROUND.

FLAWS:
--Bumblebee was definitely not in the movie nearly enough but his absence made a bit more sense to me this time because I caught some lines I missed before.
--Twins: Okay, yeah, I see the whole OMG THEY IS HORRIBLE RACIST STEREOTYPE thing now, but I'm still really glad I didn't read any of that stuff before I went to see the movie the first time. They are stupid but stupidly funny and get some genuinely good zingers, and I will stand by that assessment. Also they kicked Devastator's ass. So.
--SO MANY STUPID SEX JOKES. WHY, MOVIE, WHY WITH THE DOGS HUMPING.
--NEEDS MOaR AUTOBOT INTERACTION PLZ.
--Final fight is STILL way too long.
--WTF with the hatchlings! Why do robots lay eggs?
AWESOME:
--GIANT EXPLODING ROBOTS OF AWESOME
--Megatron: "Starscream, I'm home!" I think I nearly broke a rib laughing.
--Megatron/Starscream in general. HILARIOUS.
--Holy shit I so did not catch Shockwave the first time around. And Jetfire just crushes him.
--Jetfire. I almost forgive the hatchling thing just for Jetfire to bitch about his parents.
--Mikaela is so freaking awesome and her money shot first appearance is sexy sexy sexy.
--Bumblebee kicking Rampage and Ravage ass. Um. He totally strips Ravage RIGHT OFF HIS SPINE. It's brutal and amazing.
--Ruthless!Optimus Prime. Um. Just Optimus Prime in general. GOD SO MUCH ASSKICKING.
--Bumblebee/Sam moments. Not into the pairing but they are so totally BFF. I just wanted to hug Bee at the beginning of the movie SITTING IN THE GARAGE HITTING HIMSELF IN THE HEAD ("Stupid! Stupid!") AUGH POOR BEE.
--Had some logistical errors cleared up for me in the second viewing. When I realized some scenes were coincidental instead of sequential I was no longer so WTF at the length of the ending (although it was still way too long).
--Sideswipe. Nothing more needs to be said.
--Sam. So freaking awesome. He's way more confident in this movie and it's just so wonderfully natural and awesome. Also Shia LeBouf can pull off a really convincing seizure, and it's genuinely creepy.
--SHIT FLEW GUYS. AND IT WAS AWESOME. (also awesomely clumsy. OH OPTIMUS ILU.)
--Military kicked serious ass.
--Epps. He will never not be awesome and funny. "Don't tempt me", LOL WHUT.
So basically I feel way more satisfied with the movie upon a second viewing - it was easier to just roll my eyes at the stupid offensive shit that Michael Bay went out of his way to throw in there and, no longer dazzled completely by Giant Alien Robot fights, I could appreciate the plot (so to speak), character interactions, and even the CGI even more than the first time.
Don't be harshin' my squee, guys. If you didn't like it or found it so offensive you hated it, I understand - I really, really do - but I'm not really here to debate its dubious merits. I know the flaws - I'm too busy freaking out over particularly badass robots to care.
