shut your eyes and think of somewhere / somewhere cold and caked in snow

And so now I'm back to reminscing about Iceland, Oban, Roundtree, the Arans, my 'wee Scottish hill' covered in snow, the St. Paul Winter Carnival, the Sapporo Ice Festival, even Plattsburgh (New York).

Because it's 94 degrees outside. 84 inside (it was 83 when I left this morning, so not too bad, given the outside temp rose 25 degrees in the same period of time). Needless to say, I'm in the basement. And I may sleep here if it doesn't cool down upstairs.

I kept the windows open after sunset last night, but had to close them at 10 because the frogs were keeping me up, and then woke up with allergy eyes and ears, so I guess I went into the pollen window. So tonight I'll close them around 8, I guess. Right now they're closed and the drapes are all pulled, which kinda sucks, but since it's over 90 outside... (Why do I have the feeling that my obsessive posts about my allergies are about to be replaced by obsessive weather reports? I am a Minnesota girl at heart, though, so it's to be expected. And on that note, it's supposed to be 62 on friday and 63 on saturday. Thank the almighty gods of weather and heatstroke prevention and gardening.)

I'm on the fence about last night's NCIS. I will say that it answered at least one question, made me love Gibbs even more, if that's possible, and makes me both excited and trepidacious (which I'll have you know, according to internet dictionaries, I spelled correctly the first time. Yes, the grey matter still works) about the finale.

I seem to remember that since newer cars don't use CFCs in their a/c systems, there's no pollution impact of a/c over windows-rolled-down. But I also seem to remember that having your windows down makes you less aerodynamic, thus screwing with your gas mileage. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Will I really save gas by using a/c over windows? Or is it a wash. (And no, I'm not just looking for an excuse to run the a/c while driving [obviously, aerodynamicness becomes less of an issue when stuck in a jam or whatever].)

Thus endeth the randomness. Off to the coolest corner with a popsicle and ice water...

ETA: It's still Really Warm upstairs, but it's great down here, so much so that I think I may need to put socks on! All hail whatever Earth Science theory that describes constant temperature of caves/underground rooms/split foyer basements.

weather, randomness, car, i'm melting, ncis
