After the recent Tegomass fanmeet I thought I should buy the "Miso Soup" single as well, since I already have the other two singles by this unit. Then I discovered that the Swedish edition of the single is dirt cheap (25 SEK! = ~2,5€ = ~2$) at a Sweden-based webstore, so I really had to buy it :D. Plus another copy for one of my US friends...
I haven't really mentioned the fanmeet before - it was last weekend - but I had fun there. I'm glad I went, even though I was scared beforehand that I would feel totally out-of-place, since everybody else was so much younger. But it was fun even though I don't really fangirl the Juniors/Junior groups that much!
Random: Afterwards, I was thinking about the nature of fangirling and being a fan, and how some people never really stop being fans, or at least having a fannish mentality. The fandoms themselves might change with time, which is only natural, but the self-identification as a "fan" of something or other stays the same.
I sometimes feel a bit sad when reading comments by some younger fans of this or that, when they say that they wish they won't be fangirling things anymore when they grow up/get older/whatever. It's like being fannish is something shameful, or to be avoided once you "mature".
My strongest friendships are with people I've met through various fandoms. And I also wouldn't be keeping this LJ without fandom. Fandom has given me a lot of joy and amusement. And I also can't forget the help and support I got when I had a really rough patch a couple of years ago!!
So, I guess for me, at least, fandom is a way of life.
