A colleague of mine who works for the same temp agency as I do, in the same client company, and the same team just called that she had received an e-mail from our employer where they say that their deal with the client company is terminating at the end of June. Which basicly means that me and a few of my colleagues will be out of work after that date (though we have longer contracts, they are on a "project" basis and if we don't work anywhere, we get no money either).
I'm not at all surprised that the company in which I do my work terminated the contract, since the agency had A LOT of trouble with several employee's paychecks late last year, early this year (some people got no pay at all, there were missing bonuses, overtime pay, evening extra, holidays extras, etc.).
Luckily I had trouble only once, and in my case they paid me extra about 800 euros (I called and asked to return the money immediately, though it was nice to see that amount of money on my account, if only briefly :D). And then they tried all kinds of excuses before they really started to get on bottom of the problems, giving a very unprofessional picture of the company.
But what this means in my case is if I want to continue with the company I now work at, I would have to quit the temp agency and either form a contract with the company itself (though I don't think they are allowed to take on new employees at the moment), or form a new contract with another temp agency with which they have a contract. But on the practical level, that would mean that I would start as a new employee and lose all my holidays, etc.
It hasn't really all hit in yet, but it probably will tomorrow when I see the e-mail for myself. But this totally SUCKS!!!!! Suomeksi sanottuna, syvältä ja poikittain :P...
But there are several of us (at least 3-5 in our team only) so we can sort together what to do next. And our bosses are trying to find solutions as well, because we are all good, trained and experienced people who are just in the process of being trained for some new services, so I'm sure the company will try to find some way to keep us. The current resources being what they are, suddenly losing 5 experienced workers would probably hurt the team pretty badly...
