The engagement dinner is ruined, and Nishida isn't revealing where Domyouji rushed off to. Tsukasa really is in a total panic when he arrives at the hospital and can think only of Makino.
But when he finally arrives at the ward where Makino is, the first thing he sees is Rui who is welcomed by her family into her room. And they are completely praising Rui for how he's always there for Makino and ask him to take care of her forever and ever. Sigh, what a shock to Domyouji.
Then Rui offers to stay the night at the hospital because Makino's parents must be exhausted. Oh, and he takes her hand and sits by her bed. You really are setting yourself up for heartbreak, Rui! All she can think of is Tsukasa, however much she might pretend otherwise!
OUCH! When Tsukasa gets home, his mother reminds him again of that mysterious tragedy he's supposed to have caused and asks if Makino Tsukushi is worth it. He briefly asks what if she were, but then reassures her that there is now nothing between him and Makino. Then the way Tsukasa just drops on his knees and screams in pain!!! Soo painful and angsty!
Hee, love the next morning at the hospital when Makino finds Rui fallen asleep by her bed, still holding her hand. LOL at her asking hesitantly first, if he were the whole night, and then, if he held her hand the entire time *g*.
Aww, Rui says he'll explain the matters to the right people, since her college exams were supposed to be that day.
EEEE! "Do you know what makes me Hanazawa Rui the lifesaver?" "What is it?" "It's because I think I might like you, Makino." "Eh?" And then he kissed her (Ok, now I'm getting flashbacks to that 60s girl group song, "Then He Kissed Me" :D).
Hee, Makino gets so flustered after the kiss. "Friends shouldn't do things like that." "I wasn't emotionally ready. " and so on. Then next morning her parents are asking if there could possibly be a romance between her and Rui and though she denies it, she can't help thinking about his kiss.
LOL at Domyouji's arrival at the F4 lounge. He's clearly dying to ask Rui about Makino and what happened at the hospital, but only ends up acting extremely strangely and butchering some more language - both English and Japanese... It's so Domyouji!
Actually, it just popped into my mind that he's completely channeling Miles Vorkosigan in this scene, the hyperactive little git! MAJOR HEEEE!!! But then again, now I'm starting to fantasy cast various Japanese actors in a film version... Especially of the AU slashfic version portrayed in "A Deeper Season" and it's sequel "What Passing Bells" that I'm reading right now. MatsuJun as Miles, Takuya Kimura as Gregor... Oh no, must bleach brain immediately!!!
Ahem, back to the episode. Makino is so completely flustered when Yuki visits her at the hospital and tries to deny that anything is the matter, but of course anyone who knows her can spot that something has happened :). Then she tells Yuki that Rui kissed her, but still tries to say that it was nothing.
But she's all flustered when the F3 come to visit her at the hospital. LOL, loved how Akira makes up an excuse so that he and Soujiro must leave the room and also take Yuki with them ('Yuki, Soujiro has something to say to you.' HEEE!), in order to leave Rui and Makino alone :). Rui comments that maybe they've noticed something...
But Soujiro, at least, is of the opinion that Domyoji is still head over heels in love with Makino even though there must be some hidden reason why he's supressing that love. Still, he says there's nothing they can do about it, which makes Yuki argue against his reasoning.
He starts going on about how there's no logic or reasoning in love and I think we are getting to that backstory of this character and can't wait to see how this will unfold. It seems Soujiro's theory is that love can only hurt, which is why he has become such a playboy.
Hee, the kiss and pat on the head outside the hospital. Poor Makino just doesn't know what to think :).
Now it's finally shown that some careless words of Tsukasa's caused the Domyouji corporation's stock to fall drastically resulting in massive layoffs. And this probably resulted in that nightmare/memory guy's suicide. Ooh, angsty Domyouji! But then again, social conscience doesn't really fit his character that well, since I think he's always more about individuals than about abstract entities.
That house really seems like a dump from the outside. I hope it's better on the inside. But, still, if it's cheap, it's probably the only thing Makino and Susumu can afford after her father was laid off.
Heh, Shigeru showing up at the new place and then she asks if Makino and Domyouji used to be in love and if they did all kinds of things together. Makino almost chokes on her drink after the question, but then Shigeru shows again how rich her family is, when she compares the apartment to the "pigeon coop that was just as big and dirty as this place!"
Hee, Shizuka is back, and Rui is asking her of the choices he has to make, and she's encouraging him. I guess the writers are trying to show that there is nothing between Rui and Shizuka anymore and that he's moved on to Makino (with whom he has no hope, so must angst prettily :)).
Makino and Susumu are scared when they notice someone spying on them outside their door, but when they on true Makino fashion decide on attack, it turns out to be Domyoji after all. And then he says he's just bought the building because he wants to be an adult and on his own and is now their landlord. Quite accidentally, of course (Yeah, right...).
Heh, I love how Domyouji sends Susumu to his place "to study" because he wants to be alone with Makino.
The Shizuka/Rui meeting really seems like a final farewell. She compliments him on how he has grown up and he only talks about Makino. And when they arrive at her place, she asks if he would like to come up for a bit and he refuses. Then she shouts out to him, "Make her happy!" - she can clearly see who he cares for nowadays.
But, of course, at the same time the OTP is finally together and alone in the apartment. It is pretty awkward at first, but at least it finally gives them a chance to talk about things. They are talking about the flavour of love and he says that love tastes "like that lousy cookie you made". EEEE! He's clearly about to confess his love for her when her phone rings, and it's Rui.
Domyoji says she doesn't have to answer it, but when he tries to stop her, they end up on the floor with him on top of her. Which is, of course, the moment Shigeru barges into the apartment and sees them. And Rui is still on the phone.
And Shigeru leaves, but Tsukasa stops Tsukushi from going after her (Rui still listening). Love the previews :).
