My last reads in May were some comics: (90.) Mikko Ketola and Anssi Rauhala's Marian koodi (graphic novel), which was a light and fun Finnish take on The Da Vinci Code type of stuff, (93.) Satoru Kannagi and Hotaru Odagiri's Only the Ring Finger Knows (manga), a fluffy boy-love story, and (94.) Warren Ellis, et al.: Stormwatch: A Finer World (graphic novel), which was ok.
If I hadn't had to skim-read (91.) Scott Lynch's The Lies of Locke Lamora, I might have liked it quite a lot, since it seemed like a very readable fast-paced swashbuckling action-adventure fantasy.
However, I was asked to review it as soon as possible, and I had received it as a text file which was way too long to print (even when reduced as much as possible), so the only thing I could do was just try to make some sense out of it while skimming the text on the computer screen.
After that I finished "A Deeper Season", the novel-length fanfic already mentioned below which lead me to reread (92.) Lois McMaster Bujold's Memory, which is probably my favourite book in the Vorkosigan series. At least it's the one I've (re)read the most times. It was interesting to read from a ADS viewpoint for a while, but I also very soon grabbed by story and forgot to view it through a slanted view :).
May's entire tally was 28 finished books.
June was started by (95.) Charlaine Harris's Definitely Dead which I just finished last night. I liked it a lot. It's the latest book in Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series and has all kinds of interesting developments in it.
In the book, Sookie has to travel to New Orleans to clear her decesed cousin Hadley's apartment. Hadley was the former favourite of Louisiana's vampire queen, so, of course, Sookie gets yet-again tangled into vampire politics and power struggles.
This book also has very interesting developments in her personal life, since there is a new romantic interest in her life. There is some heartbreak as well, since the visit brings some unpleasant revelations to her.
All in all, a very nice addition to the series. I can't wait to read the next book, if it's going to take place at the vampire conference :)...
