Apart from printing the outline of the MBB 121 lectures, I have accomplished nothing related to academics this weekend. However, I have accomplished other things.
1) I seem to have managed to Diana Wynne Jones myself. I love Christopher Chant (just read the Pinhoe Egg). Too bad he is married to an enchantress who was once a goddess. Too bad he's a nine-lived enchanter who does not have a "copy" in this world.
However, I love Howl more than I love Chant (DWJ names her wizards oddly). But he's already got Sophie and Sophie is very, very amusing. (I hearts her more than I hearts Millie.) I wonder though if, in this world, there exists another Howl.
I have, by the way, also wondered: What if Howl and Chrestomanci met? My brain hissed at the notion.
2) I seem to have converted myself to the Dark Side. I have gotten past my denial stage and went looking for Haruka Minami's works. HOW CAN I RESIST HARUKA MINAMI IF SHE DRAWS MANGA THAT HAS CHARACTERS THAT LOOK LIKE TEZUKA AND FUJI?!?!?!?! *points at icon* That isn't from a doujin. That's from a manga.
After overloading myself with Haruka Minami, I went looking for other yaoi and shounen ai stuff. I am now accepting recs. *nods* But the boys have to be pretty (as in Tezuka and Fuji pretty or maybe Loveless pretty) and the art has to be pretty and the plot has to be a bit angsty. There's this one funny thing though: when I got tired looking for manga, I began reading TeFu doujins. TeFu is my comfort zone.
3) I also seem to have watched bits of Mulan thrice and The Lion King twice this weekend. It's my siblings' fault. They kept on playing the movies as if they hadn't watched it before. At least, that stopped them from wandering to my room while I was reading.
4) I also have written the first part of Getting There, plus a bit of the next part. I've also managed to post the latest
perfect_tales fic. But I do need to finish beta-reading a chapter for someone. *fails*
By the way, my answers to
this post:
Why do you read fanfiction? Let's just say I've always been a fan of other people's works (I used to live off Fictionpress stories). Whenever I fangirl over something, the first thing I think of is: FANFIC!!! I guess that's because I need someone to feed my fangirlism. I usually see the need to read more angst, more drama, more comedy, more romance, especially if my ship isn't quite highlighted in canon. Hence, I read fics. Plus, I'd like to know the kinds of happy endings other people would like to give my ships. (In case you didn't know, in anything I'm reading or watching, I have to have a ship. Otherwise, I'll lose interest. Please do not stone the romantic.)
Why do you write fanfiction? To be quite honest, I have more urge to write than read fan fiction. In fact, I have lots and lots of buried fanfiction (for books, Asiandramas, manga, etc). I think that's because canon is just not enough to answer my questions and I feel the urge to answer these questions. Sample questions: Why did Luna and Harry act like that in OotP? How did Akito act around Shigure when they were children? Is Ritsuka aware of Soubi's dark past? But of course the most important question is: How can I show people that Tezuka and Fuji are so utterly in love with, so completely perfect for each other? XD I don't think my overactive imagination will make me rest if I hadn't written fanfiction. Plus, it feels so good to share my happy endings for my ships with other people. (I also won't deny that I love reviews and comments from readers.)
Why do you read doujins? Because, as Tezuka knows, words are not enough. There are just some things that I'd like to see acted out.
To end this, I'd like to share with everyone what
ellipsesbandit said some time ago: "TEZUKAFUJI IS THE GREATEST LOVE STORY NEVER TOLD." Now, I like to think that TezukaFuji writers just happen to really love writing bits of the untold. (Since they don't really talk much, that's a lot of untold. That should probably explain the TezukaFuji armada and the number of fics the ships bear.)
