Behind Door Number One...

So while emptying out my closets today I found two things of interest:

1) An portable electric heater. I've been living here for 11 years and I had no idea that I had an electric heater. I would never have used it (for years my place was routinely sauna-like, even in the dead of winter), but it's a bit weird to actually find something in the back of a closet that you haven't looked at for over a decade. Of course, it took me over nine years to notice the the small doorway in my living room wall (water turn-off), so I'm not really big on noticing stuff.

2) 25 boxes of Magic cards. Now, that's not to say 25 boxes of opened Magic cards - I have well over 25 boxes of those (in the "fifty thousand cards range"). I'm talking 25 boxes of un-opened Magic cards.

That's a lot of cards. And at $100-120 a box, it's a lot of money too.

Now to be fair, a third of the boxes are open and just filled with un-opened "booster" packs, so they're a bit tougher to move. And none of the boxes are more than four years old, so they're not extra valuable for being rare. But it's neat to find so many. I've done well at a lot of local tournaments over the years, and I used to get paid quite a bit to write. A little evidence of that success is sweet.

I also found an uncut sheet of English Antiquities (meaningless to the non-Magic among you), which is very old (in Magic terms) and pretty darn rare. If only I could guarantee a steady cutting hand I'd have a complete set of the cards! Perhaps I should just very carefully cut out the Mishra's Workshop...
