Take the Quiz here! So in the last week or two I have finally actually read Jane Austen for the first time in my life--I've been vaguely resistant for a long time to reading Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, or Emma because I know the stories (and I have this feeling that Emma would jump up and down on my embarrassment squick). And I had gained the general impression that no one likes the other three.
But then I saw Persuasion recommended as a book where the shy girl gets the guy without having to be made over into not-the-shy-girl! And I thought, hey, sign me up for that! And I read it, and adored it. And then I saw Mansfield Park recommended as kind of the same thing, and so it was. So I'll be over here waving the flag for Anne Elliot and Fanny Price, because, hey, we can't all be Lizzie Bennet.
(Also, wondering if I shouldn't give Northanger Abbey a shot sometime...)
