Mod Post: End of the year update

Nov 28, 2010 00:04

It has been a few months since we had a proper mod post updating everyone on what is being planned for the community, or asked for community feedback, so here it is!

Interview Series
The first round of the Interview Series ran fairly well, so we are going to try it again with a few more vidders. We still have several names left over from last time, but if you are dying to ask a certain vidder some questions and want to add a name to the list, please do so before Friday December 3rd 11:59 PST. Also, if you would like to suggest changes to the format of the series, we happily accept them as well. PM, or e-mail: death_is_your_art (at) yahoo (dot) ca with "Interview Series" in the subject title.

Once all names are submitted they are entered into a spreadsheet, randomized, and then starting from the top vidders are contacted until 5 agree to be interviewed. Due to the holidays we will only be asking for questions at the beginning of the January, and setting a tentative deadline for posting the completed interview at the end of February, or early March. The beginning of the New Year will be busy with Festivids and Vidukon deadlines, as well as Vividcon sign-ups; and we don't wish to over-extend anyone.

Meta Series
As you may have seen, the first piece in the Meta Series was posted earlier this week by obsessive24. Her piece On External Source is excellent, so please check it out if you have not already. Also, please remember to comment when you do.

Unfortunately, the project as a whole has hit a few delays and lost a few authors along the way; therefore, additional pieces will not be posted until late January/early February depending on author schedules. We are also looking for new authors, so if you are interested in writing a piece for us, or have a suggestion as to who we could bribe to write for us, then please let me know as soon as possible by PM, or by e-mail: death_is_your_art (at) yahoo (dot) ca. This also applies to any topics you would like to see covered in this series. We appreciate community member feedback and want to provide content that is both interesting, as well as useful to as many people as possible.

Profile Series
The series will be taking a short break this month and returning at the end of December. In the mean time all previous vidder profiles can be found in the memory section, or through the "vidder profile" tag.

Commentary Challenge
The next commentary challenge is tentatively scheduled for late spring.

If you have questions or comments about any of the content posted within this community, please comment to one of the mod posts, or e-mail one of the moderators for assistance/discussion. Happy Holidays to those members that are celebrating over the next month!
