Hating Bush at the moment for the whole stem cell debacle. Stupid, selfish little man. It's enough to make me ~almost~ wish one of his children was dying of leukemia or Alpers or some other debilitating disease. But I wouldn't wish that on anyone. And it's not their fault they're related to such an asshole.

I'm just in a bad mood because one of the sick kids I read about occasionally just died. She was three years old and had leukemia, a beautiful little girl named Skyler. Her family has been trying to prepare for this, but how can you prepare for the death of your child? I thought their journal entry however was a great idea:

In honor of Skyler, and all the good and love she brought into this world in her short 3 years I am asking everyone to do 3 things today...1 for each year of her life. They are 3 simple things that will bring a smile to others faces in honor of all the smiles Skyler brought to everyone who knew her.

1. Do something nice for someone you don't know, whether it's letting someone in front of you at the grocery store, paying for someone's food behind you in the drive-thru, or any other simple unexpected thing that may bring a smile to someone's face.

2. Visit Skyler's guestbook and find a families caringbridge site you have never visited and let them know you are praying for them. All the support we have received through this site has been amazing and brought us all such strength I want everyone to be able to feel that same love and warmth. So, sign their guestbook and let them know ^^Angel Skyler^^ sent you.

3. Give someone you care about, but haven't seen or spoken to in awhile a call and let them know that they are special to you. Even if there may have been bad feelings between the two of you in the past, I guarantee it will make them smile to know you still care.

I plan to do all these things this week, as often as possible. In that spirit I visited a few other caringbridge websites and found a woman who has lost two children in the last couple of years to Alpers, a horrible disease in which the brain deteriorates, which is always fatal and has no treatment. She still has a 9-year-old son who does not have the disease but is a carrier, so she is also worried about his children suffering and dying from this horrible disease.

It's a sad night. I'm going to go light a candle.
