I would never have thought I would feel this way about watching a game, especially hockey, of all sports. I was watching the Bruin's last game against the Penguins on Saturday night. And as usual, I was hoping for a fight.. a brawl would have been nice too. The Bruins ended the season in style with a 7-1 victory over the Penguins, winning the Eastern Conference Championship. As I was watching the game and listening to the play by play toward the end of the 3rd period, I felt a little love butterfly in both my stomach and my heart. It's like watching Titantic on Ice. I almost felt a tear drop when I learned how much love the team has for one another. Lapointe to Samsonov. Murray to Samsonov. Rolston to Samsonov. Guerin to Samsonov. I was puzzled to why they did not score when given the opportunity but kept on passing it to Samsonov. So I turned to the hockey fanatic in the family, my sister, and asked why. She explained that Samsonov has 29 goals this season and the team wanted him to reach 30, which would have been his career high. I was so touched. How sweet are these big sweaty guys on ice? Every time Samsonov heads for the bench for a break, the coach wouldn't let him rest. Poor guy. Although he didn't score, at least they tried and it was the thought that counts. I also learned something new about hockey. The "hat trick", which means that the player scored 3 goals a game and apparently the fans throw their hats onto the rink. I shall not look at hockey in the same way anymore. Go Bruins! Hopefully they'll beat the damn Canadians in the Bruin-Canadians Playoffs. I'm going to the game on Sunday!!!
