Weirdness! Along two lines.
One: I've had "Cracklin' Rosie" in my head for the past day and a half or so. Absolutely no reason. Didn't hear it on the radio, at the pub... or anything. Just randomly in my head. What's on the telly tonight, but 'An Evening with Neil Diamond'?!? He answers questions from the audience, which includes some British celebs (who presumably are fans) including Dame Judi Dench, Johnny Vegas, and some other British celebs who haven't really made it over the pond... nor should they...). He plays some songs. Including.... you guessed it - "Cracklin' Rosie"!!! He's a sweet man, is Neil. That was one of the few cassettes we had in the car, and my middle sister adored Neil Diamond.

Two: went to the pub for a friend's birthday. It was a lovely summer evening - the best of British summer - clear and crisp, verdant - lovely to spend in the Beer garden of a nice pub. And this pub is nice. They have my favourite beer on tap, Hoegaarden. It's lovely and light, and utterly refreshing. Nice anytime, but particularly so in summer. Oh, it's been quite a while since I last got tipsy. I managed 2.5 pints, and was quite jolly before I'd even finished the second. Plus I had a new dress on. Anyhow, good evening, but the main point is that I forgot about what happens when I drink my fill. I woke up super early, and was impressed that I even had a bit of a headache, but moreover, I had weird-ass dreams!!! Waking up super early is my normal reaction - hell knows why - I'm likely still drunk as I feel great at 5:30 in the morning, but I go back to bed anyhow. But the weird dreams were interesting. I dreamed that I was cast as Harry Potter in the new Harry Potter film. And they were starting the series again from scratch, and were re-casting everyone. I was conscious of the oddness of casting a female as Harry, but wasn't nearly as concerned with that as I was that they were going to get rid of Hermione and Ginny altogether. Despite the fact that they were starting the series over again, it was still somehow linked to the movies to date, as I was adamant that such an act of deleting Hermione and Ginny would make no sense at all, particularly given the teen love tensions in the past film. Those tensions have been brought up - how can the filmmakers deny them now???
I told my housemate, and she said: 'Which of them did you want to snog?' Neither, really. I was concerned with the disruption of the narrative that the deletion of their characters would effect to the exclusion of all other factors. And there was going to be lots of rehearsals.
And somehow, I also got to see some deleted scenes from the past film, of Snape, showing him to be an even better character. There was some bit with a secret room with removable door handles that I had infiltrated and then he came in and I had to hide, and I saw him doing stuff that was really supporting Hogwarts and Dumbledore's legacy, despite the fact that Dumbledore had died, and the school had been given over to Snape by Voldemort.
And there were also questions that I made to the teachers in the cast about the specificity of their wands - how they were fancier and longer than those of the students. And it was as though I was a student, and I oughtn't to have addressed them in such a casual manner, but because I was *Harry Potter* - or had been seen fit to be cast as him, I felt I had this right to express my curiosity.
Weirdness!
