2006, Spring
It was a typical Monday, the day which professional workers officially hated the most. One of them had been signing documents endlessly when nature decided to call. Little did he know that his fate was about to change the moment he walked through the toilet’s doorway. Yunho did his business there as usual when he heard faint sobbing sounds coming from one of the cubicles. He knew it was probably better to respect the crying man’s privacy, but curiosity got the better of him.
Kim Jaejoong just had possibly the worst day in his entire career. He had screwed up big time, revealing restricted company information to one of his clients. Of course his boss had eventually found out, and not long than an hour ago he was officially fired. So much for enduring all these years, he thought. Eventually his emotions got the better of him, and there he was running to the toilet to spill his heart out, unaware of anyone else’s presence.
“Hello there?” a warm baritone voice startled the heck out of him. ‘Shit, was I crying that loud? How embarrassing,’ he thought. The stranger sounded like he was waiting for his response, thus he muttered the lamest one he could think of at that moment.
“Yeah?” ‘He probably wanted to use the toilet, idiot!’
“Sorry to bother you, but are you alright?” the kind voice spoke again.
Jaejoong was baffled to say the least. Why the hell would this guy care? His politeness took over though, so he wiped his face and decided to come out and see what the guy wanted.
And that’s where one of the worst days in his life turned around to be his road to happiness.

2009, Christmas
“Baby wake up, we’ve landed.” Soft hands caressed his hair, a habit Yunho has developed of waking up his lover. Time had passed by so rapidly and before they knew it, he and Jaejoong had been dating for over 3 years. This year they decided to take a trip to Italy for Christmas holiday, or more like Yunho had decided himself and bought them both tickets. Jaejoong had no choice, albeit being secretly happy that Yunho had taken the initiative. Besides, it wasn’t the first time he had surprised him.
Jaejoong blinked his eyes, adjusting to the brightness of the cabin. He had drifted off as soon as the plane took off, exhausted from finishing up work the day before. He smiled when Yunho’s face came to view, placing a soft kiss on his boyfriend’s face. It was going to be a memorable Christmas, he could feel it.
They took a cab shortly after clearing out immigration and picking up their baggage and arrived at the luxurious five-star resort. Luxury was no longer foreign to Jaejoong, he had been spoiled by it ever since they had started dating. Money was not a problem for his boyfriend, thus in return Yunho appreciated the small things Jaejoong did for him. From simple things such as bringing him home-made lunch, fussing over his tie or bombarding him messages with cute smileys.
Unfortunately for them the check-in didn’t go smoothly; their reservation was nowhere to be found and Yunho was pissed. It wasn’t a pretty sight; his anger wasn’t the one where he yelled loudly, it was the silent type where his jaw tightened and his eyes turned into slits, tone threatening anyone who dared to oppose his will. Jaejoong had to calm him down, running his hands up and down his back, frankly quite frightened not for himself but for the poor receptionist. In the end though, as always they got what they had wanted and had the original suite booking upgraded to presidential suite.
Yunho had told him to go ahead to their upgraded room, and gave him a look as Jae resisted. He told the latter that he would join him as soon as possible when he’s done taking care of things which led to the latter being even more suspicious.
As soon as Jaejoong got into the stunning suite, his jaw immediately dropped. Not because of the architecture nor design, but because the moment he laid eyes on the bedroom there were at least a hundred rose petals on the king-sized bed. It occupied all the space in the bed that you could almost miss the tiny little box placed in the middle of it all. His first thought was they had gotten into the wrong room; that this was originally prepared and meant for some other couple. He couldn’t stop his heart from beating furiously though, as he waited for Yunho to come back and clarify this himself.
When Yunho did, gone was the furious man in the lobby earlier, replaced by a sweet and caring lover. He embraced Jaejoong from the back, and before Jaejoong could get a word out of his mouth, he placed his finger on Jaejoong’s lips, signalling him to be quiet.
“Listen to me first sweetheart, I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to find that there isn’t, cause all these times I spent with you are perfect in their own way.” Yunho’s gaze was sincere as he spoke.
ldquo; These three years we’ve been dating have been the happiest years in my life, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know I don’t say this often but I hope you can always feel it through my actions because everything I do is for you.” This time it was Yunho who took a deep breath before continuing.
Jaejoong hitched his breath, awaiting the question that’s going to change his life.
";I love you Kim Jaejoong, will you marry me?”

2010, Valentine Day
Winter was slowly turning onto spring, but Jaejoong found himself sulking, staring into space as he sat in his office. It was their first Valentine's together as a married couple, and Yunho had to go on a business trip. They had gotten married last month, an express three months of preparation using Yunho’s connections to book Jaejoong’s dream venue at last minute notice. Only family and close friends were invited per Jaejoong’s request. They had pre-wedding arguments here and there as other couples do but in the end it was such a beautiful ceremony that all the negativity simply vanished and turned into bliss the moment they were proclaimed each other’s husbands.
Jaejoong sighed; he hadn’t exactly been feeling well these past few days. Could it be a product of loneliness, he wondered.
“Sir, here are the documents legal sent you to approve,” his assistant Seohyun gently put the papers on his desk. “You look rather pale, are you alright?” she noted with concern. Jaejoong forced a small smile, and being desperate for company, asked her to hang out together later. Luckily she was still single, and later that night they both went to a bar nearby the office.
It was still pretty early, so they decided to order light bites before having drinks. They were in the middle of discussing the hot guy sitting across them, Jaejoong laughing and Seohyun giggling when all of a sudden his stomach lurched and he immediately ran off to the toilet stall, leaving a flustered Seohyun behind. He had left his phone at the table when it rang, and seeing Jaejoong was in the toilet Seohyun decided to take a message. Yunho had recognised her voice immediately, having met her many times in Jaejoong’s office. He questioned where Jaejoong was and Seohyun told him he had gotten sick Yunho had made her pass the phone to his husband at all costs.
Seohyun didn’t dare decline his request and carefully made her way onto the man’s toilet, hoping no one would see her. She stepped in and tried knocking on one of the stalls, where she called out Jaejoong’s names a few times in vain. Slightly panicking, she opened one of stall that was left half closed to find Jaejoong passed out on the floor and let out a horrified scream. Yunho had gotten frantic on the phone and immediately told her to call emergency, telling her he would be out on the first flight from Hong Kong.
--
When Jaejoong woke, he felt nauseous. He opened his eyes to find his surroundings all white and immediately started to panic. What had happened to him? All he remembered was throwing up last night, and then everything had gone black. Where was Seohyun? Who had brought him here? His first reaction was to find his cell phone and call his husband, but before he could do so the door to his hospital room was busted open, and he looked up to see Yunho all worried storming up to him.
“Jae, are you okay? How are you feeling now?” His tone was frantic and Jaejoong only grew more confused.
“How did you know I was here? What happened to me?” he questioned back, confused as to why Yunho was here when he was supposed to be abroad.
“I called you last night and your assistant picked up, saying you were both hanging out in a bar and that you had thrown up. I asked her to speak to you directly, but when she went to find you, you were passed out cold on the floor,” Yunho answered as he stroked Jaejoong’s smooth cheek with his thumb. “I took the first flight out from there, I left everything behind.”
Jaejoong was touched, any other businessman would’ve left him in someone else’s care and took care of their business first, but his husband had done the opposite and always prioritised him.
“Sorry for making you worried. I don’t know what caused it when I barely drank a glass of beer, Yunho.” Jaejoong frowned, his expression mirroring his husband’s. He put his hand over Yunho’s slender ones.
“We’ll talk to the doctor and get to the bottom of this, baby. Don’t worry, I’m here.” He planted a kiss onto Jaejoong’s plump lips, as they kissed hungrily to make up for the last few days.
The doctor had entered a moment later, claiming that Jaejoong fainted from exhaustion and threw up due to the food he ate at the bar. Yunho didn’t believe a word they said and demanded more tests but Jaejoong told him to let it go and hope that it won’t happen again. Little did they know, it was only the start.

Shortly after Jaejoong was released from the hospital, they had decided to celebrate their belated Valentine's that weekend. Yunho wanted to take them both out for a fancy dinner, but Jaejoong argued that it was too cliché and seeing that he was already well enough, he wanted to cook them both something special.
After nearly spending the whole day cooking different dishes from spaghetti to kimchi jigae, he started to serve them all on the dining table, lighting some candles and putting on some smooth jazz for their background music. Yunho dug in immediately, fishing out his usual compliments for his fiancée's heavenly food, and all went well until he slipped out a casual remark.
“Hm, the soup’s a little salty though.”
Seeing the change of expressions on Jaejoong’s face made Yunho want to smack himself for being so careless. There were hints of tears beginning to form in the other’s eyes and he honestly could not understand when Jaejoong had gotten this sensitive.
“Sorry, just something caught in my eye.” Jaejoong excused himself to the bathroom, not understanding what’s going on either and trying his best to deny his overwhelming emotions on such a trivial comment.
Yunho followed him immediately, knocking on the bathroom door and apologising.
“Jae, is there something else you’re not telling me? What’s wrong baby?”
“I don’t know.” He sobbed as quietly as he could. He had no clue as to why he was reacting this way.
“Please open the door, there’s no need to hide. Come out sweetheart.”
After a series of persuasions Jaejoong finally submitted and threw his arms around his significant other.
“Are you in pain anywhere, hm? Maybe we should get you checked up again, in case there are side effects.” Yunho cooed, still unbelieving how the word ‘salty’ could trigger a cry.

2010, Summer
Jaejoong rubbed at his belly lovingly, as he did every morning he woke up. At their last check up to the hospital, Dr. Shim had grown suspicious and did an unordinary test for a male. They had found out that he was actually producing this little miracle, and he had warned Jaejoong of any physical overwork that could harm the little baby. Yunho had been ecstatic, thrilled at the thought of being a father as he always had a soft spot for children. He had also made sure his spouse quit his job temporarily and stay home for the sake of ‘both of them’. He reassured Jaejoong over and over again that he didn’t need to worry about any financial matters. He had suggested for a housekeeper to help Jaejoong around the house, but the latter had smacked the man for being exaggerated.
Jaejoong’s little brother Junsu had dropped by almost every other day whenever he had no classes, to accompany and ease his boredom at home, and occasionally took them out for nursery shopping or to get some fresh air. It hadn’t been easy for Jaejoong to have morning sickness, especially when he was very sensitive to words on top of it. He knew he must stay strong for their little one and for Yunho’s sake. After all, it was only for nine months right?

2011, Winter
The sound of a shrill cry echoed throughout the peaceful night, just like every other night ever since Jaejoong gave birth a week ago. Yunho had been so patient and supportive the entire time he was pregnant that Jaejoong couldn’t help but cry in relief when he woke up from his C-section surgery to find his baby boy alive and well held by his loving husband. Ever since they bought his son home, Yunho had hired a nanny and personally woke himself up at dawn when his baby was in need of attention, as Jaejoong’s body was still fragile and he was slowly recovering from his surgery.
As Yunho cooed and successfully manage to calm the little one, Jaejoong smiled fondly at the endearing sight. He was going to be such a good father. This was one Christmas they would never forget.

drabble prompt: Jaejoong is attacked by a sasaeng fan and ends up in the hospital. Yunho visits him and they reminisce about when JJ visited him after his poisoning.
"Jae." Slim fingers caresses pale ones on the hospital bed, murmuring his other half's name softly.
He had been in Japan when an emergency call had him rush back to Seoul discreetly, and by that time it was all over the news. All he could think of was his beloved was hurt, and he needed to see him as soon as possible. The freaking psychopath had been arrested and Jaejoong had been left injured.
Doe eyes slowly fluttered open and upon seeing the familiar environment, he immediately knew where he was. But what was important is that Yunho was here, the other's presence calming all his anxiety and trauma.
"Yunnie." Tears of relief began to well up. He had been so scared at being attacked all of a sudden. He needed to feel his boyfriend's security enveloping him once more.
"You're okay. I'm here, nobody can hurt you anymore." Words of assurance that meant the world to him. As calm as Yunho looked, inside he was plotting murder to the sasaeng fan. He now knows how Jaejoong felt when he was poisoned and at the brink of death. The thought of Jaejoong passing away brings chills to his spine.
"That's what I told you years ago. Do you remember?" Jaejoong let a soft smile. It's funny how fate plays around with their lives. The consequences of being rich and famous is mind-blowing.
"Not much, sorry baby. I was probably under a lot of anesthesia." Thinking back to those nights where Jaejoong would insist on staying with him, he was determined to do the same.
"I'm so glad you're here. The world doesn't have to know, but as long as I have you I don't mind."
Yunho nodded briefly. After all the hardships they have gone through, a lawsuit isn't gonna keep them away from each other. They have known each other for thirteen years, grew up together, and became soulmates. That's the way they were meant to be. No matter what it takes, they will always fight for each other.
