Overall, this past year was not nearly as strong as 2009. Most of my returning shows were only sporadically good (DEXTER, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, I'm looking at you), and the new Fall lineup was about as weak as I’ve ever seen it (minus BOARDWALK EMPIRE and THE WALKING DEAD). Over on LOST there’s an abnormbal, sometimes comical, amount of Daddy issues going on with its charcaters, and like the WEST WING, it’s almost as if those various showrunners are working through their own unhappy upbringings vis-à-vis their characters. I agreed with Alan Sepinwall, this week’s show was a pretty slow episode, even with the presence of some really old school Vipers, a quasi-lesbian seduction and what looks like the first entrance of the Angels in the show. Again, there was equal and substantial movement on all the different plotlines, but albeit very slow.
