I'm reminded quite often that the world is a small place and that events and things spin around each other in an ever complex but still binding web of connection. Or something blah like that.

For example. Yesterday I met a higher up at work named David Pasco (sp?) who grew up in Marshfield, WI. He mentioned a bar he frequented named Brown's Bar, which is actually the bar that Cousin John has taken me to on several occasions for whiskey and karaoke. Take into account there are like 50 bars in Marshfield.

Last night, I was reading some Annie Proulx and she mentioned her father's French-Canadian heritage, and how some Acadians, as they were called, moved down to Louisiana. In the deep south, "Acadians" became "Cajuns". Today at work while studying airport identifiers, I came across ARA, which is Acadian Regional Airport, in New Iberia, LA. Then I proceeded to bore my classmates with my new knowledge about the roots of the word "cajun".

Small world!
