Welp, two weeks into my new job and I still have mixed feelings. I am, however, not going crazy, which I think is a plus.
For this first two weeks, it's been a 8 am to 4 pm situation with weekends off, which I think is miraculous. I've never had this schedule, and I think it's awesome that any ol' day of the week I can go to happy hours and go shopping and do lots of things after work that I had to drag myself to do before work. It sounds lazy and silly, but it really is hard to get up in the morning (cough10a.m.cough) and do things while waiting to go to the work.
Now I'll be moving to a mostly 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. schedule, with a few evening shifts sprinkled in. And while I've tried to keep up with my friends, it's hard when they always go out after you've gone to bed. I'm still trying to adjust to this schedule, and I haven't been able to sleep before midnight. My body is all, "Um, you haven't gone to bed before 3 a.m. for like years, so, why are you messing up this schedule?"
Ah well, I work on the 4th of July, but then I have tuesday and wednesday off, so hopefully I can get a little partaying in on Tuesday or something. I don't want my friends to think I've abandoned them, but I've got family obligations and blah blah.
Dave and Tommi are down with the kids. The first two days were fine, but now the kids are annoying the crap out of me. Fortunately I will be escaping tomorrow to Hitchcock to see Crista and Christine and sip margs by the pool.
