a new political party

A new political party??  Apparently so.  I just heard about them tonight, and apparently for the most part they only exist in New York State.  However, they seem to have had some impact on the political process there.  Having just heard of them tonight, I have done very little research, but at first glance, they certainly seem to stand for a lot of the things I could get behind.

1st, they are for a more "green" economy.  Now, I have heard a lot of argurment  saying that Global Warming is not a real threat.  However, it is my contention, that it doesn't have to be a real threat in the way it has been presented for us to work for a Green economy.  First of all, pollution just makes it hard to breathe, and I don't know about you, but I like to breath. In addition, green sources of energy would work in our favor by getting us to move beyond the addiction we have to fossil fuels.  If not now, when?

There are other ways that they are a group that I think I could very well end up supporting.  They are pro-health reform and also pro-working families...ie MOST of us rather than fighting for the big corporations.

The one issue that I would like to hear from them on is political reform.  You see, the one thing that the Tea Party SAYS they are for that I could support is reform in the way that laws are written, and specifically all the give and take that results in the watering down of great bills and the acceptance of some pretty average or even poor legislation.  I hate all the pork, and the add-ons that turn great bills into iffy if not downright horrible bills....monetarily if not in other ways.  So....if the Working Families Party has something construction to say on THAT issue, that would make them just about a perfect match for me and my political stances.
As for me, I intend to see if I can't learn more, and see if this group might expand to my home state.  They are currently in about 4 or 5 states, although NY is the major one.  If you are a progressive, and are concerned about the current situation, I invite you to join me in checking this new force out as well.  Interestingly, they have one thing in common with the Tea Party rhetoric in that they seem to be a basically grass roots movement--and what I would call a TRUE grassroots movement with the interest of the average citizen as the hot button rather than the rhetoric of the right wing..
