Risky Business

"Come on, just try it," Ali cajoled, setting down the box so she can slide an arm around Jareth's reluctant shoulders, all heedless of the glitter that's bound to be covering her any moment now. "It'll be fun. You should thoroughly enjoy the conquest."

Ali had arrived for an afternoon of delights that day in a rather strange mood. Not quite fully recovered from her recent ordeal, she knew that her usual methods of keeping Jareth satisfied would be limited. Something more creative was in order. Fortunately, she's a great advocate of the use of whatever props and improvisation is necessary to make every encounter as pleasing as possible. A quick, discreet stop in a store renowned for its many brightly-colored plastic toys, and she had what she needed--safely hidden away at the bottom of her shopping basket where it won't be found until the right time. Atop her new surprise, she piles up candies and treats with which to bribe the goblins and children into behaving for a few hours, so she and Jareth can have enough peace and privacy to enjoy each other's company properly.

When it came time to reveal the details of her idea, Ali was met with exactly the mixture of skepticism and disappointment she'd expected. But a few well-placed kisses and well-turned phrases ought to win her beloved's willingness to experiment. "And you know, whoever wins will get a prize," she offers, to sweeten the pot while he tries to think and she more successfully nuzzles his ear. "It won't take very long to set up," she continues, drawing away just enough to open the box and show him how quickly everything can be in place, "and you can pick your color first," she concludes, offering him his choice of the little Risk figurines.

(What did you think she meant?)
