After her latest run-in with Admiral Dane, it had been decided best if Ali absented herself from his company for a few days--she would be notified the moment there was news of Samus, and nothing good would come of her arguing further with the admiral. Ostensibly ensconced in her ship, she was instead visiting the Labyrinth. She'd gone home at first, but her nerves were so frayed she knew the children would suffer seeing her inevitable break. Better she be someplace where those around her would be less hurt, if they were somewhat less capable on the whole of helping. There were, at least, distractions here.
Distractions like the gardens. The beautiful flowers Jareth made for her were the first she tended; then the garden she was building for him was set to rights. When there was nothing more to fix in either of them, Ali set off for a boggy (not the boggy) corner of the Labyrinth where she had, some time ago, planted some colonies of soapweed amidst the trees. She hoped to find them flourishing.
She was almost entirely certain she was going the right way, too.
