Even the most romantic, lovey-dovey parents end up devoting most of their holidays to their children. In the best circumstances, they do it out of love. But no matter how much they love their children, all parents need a little grown-up time. Time alone, when they can do the things that earn mocking and ridicule from the children. Things that sometimes lead to more children.
All romance should begin with seduction. With seduction so often symbolized with vibrant reds,
beet soup dotted with sour cream and pumpernickel croûtons would set the tone nicely. Playing off the velvety soup is a crisp salad with
borage and nasturtiums, dressed in blueberries and lavender.
Continuing the floral theme,
lamb tartare is topped with sweet ebi shrimp, pickled peach, and a beautiful garden of flowers dusted with gold. But romance, being as much about comfort as seduction, made the inclusion of Hans' favorite
wiener schnitzel a must for the main course.
And for dessert, a flirtation: innocent
vanilla madeleines glazed with rosewater icing, nestled into brazenly bright
pomegranate sorbet.
Add one husband and a comfortable bed, and it should be one very fun meal.
