Halloween, Samhain, All Hallow's Eve--whatever you want to call it, it's a very important time of year in the Trainer household. There were costumes and candy and mischief to be had by all on the threshold of the year. This year was no different, despite Sasha's increasing paranoia (and girth, though nobody's brave enough to mention that): Ali, determined to thwart the fun-killing intentions of "health nut" mothers, was hosting a party for all her childrens' friends and classmates.
This year's party had a decided "Enchanted Forest" theme: mossy green and earthy brown rugs covered the floors (the better to protect from ground-in chocolate); canopies of autumn leaves and glistening branches spanned the ceilings, dappled with light from carefully placed strings of fairy lights. Even the
feasts and sweets have fallen into line!
And to follow the theme, Ali's dressed up as
Maid Marian. Granted, the children didn't keep to the theme quite as well (being a fairy princess, ladybug, knight in shining armor, race-car driver, and monkey), but that's the great thing about Halloween: nothing has to really match. Not that Ali would mind if a handsome Robin Hood would come to visit his lady...and help supervise the hordes of sugar-high children...
