*The captain comes strolling toward the lake as if not in any particular hurry, his head lifted to the sky, eyes narrowed slightly in the sunlight. He is dressed in dark blue, the silver embroidery running all the way up the front of the long jacket and shining in heavy gathers over the cuffs. Katchoo's gift, the katana, is slung from his belt, and at his right wrist he wears the brand new etched steel hook she also gave him. The bespelled lapel pin is not in evidence. He pauses at a short distance to admire the scene Ali has organised within the tent*
Victor was wearing the brown paisley dress that they discovered at the Nexus Mall, with a pair of shoes that matched. They were a bit too big for her, but that's because she borrowed them from her mom. She was studying her map intently, having been turned around several times. She looked up, toward the distant shape of the tent. Was that it? It was so beautiful! Only one way to find out. She headed in that direction.
Spider walks in, map in one hand, Jake's hand in the other. He's wearing a dark blue button-down shirt with a black vest over it. He thought he should go for accurate and has a pocket watch in one of the vestpockets, the chain trailing to the other side of the vest. He's wearing black dress pants and nice shoes. He looks up from the map and grins as he finds he has found the place. He spots Ali and Hook and smirks as he tugs Jake along. He seems to have momentarily forgotten about Anansi, even though it's not true. He's looking forward to this, though he doesn't know what to expect.
Once everyone's been herded into the tent, Ali settles into one of the low chairs. "Please, help yourselves, try whatever catches your interest. There's wine, and jallab. It's sort of a juice, it's made from dates and raisins and rosewater. Spider, would you be a dear and pour the wine for whoever wants it? And Victor, may I safely assume you'll be skipping the wine and having jallab with me?"
*Hook sits closest to Ali, tucking the sword behind him in a practiced manner, thinking he'll have to show it to Spider later. His appetite, as usual, is poor, but he looks over the food with interest as most of it is new to him*
She strokes a hand down his arm once he's sitting, leaning towards him to murmur quietly, "There's several more courses if none of this interests you, darling. I hope you'll like something today."
When everyone's had a chance to enjoy the first course, Ali clears the dishes from it away and sets out the main course. It is, in a word, abundant. Platters and bowls mounded high with food are set out, each containing a different dish: kima mutter (ground lamb with green peas), matar paneer (green peas and cheese curry), tamatar aur matar (tomatoes with green peas), dalchini palau (cinnamon fried rice), amm ki achaar (mango chutney) and hari chutney.
*Hook has noticed, but has also, in an almost sensible manner, put it down to Ali's current condition driving her to have odd cravings. He doesn't mention it*
