A Day of Christmas Miracles

A Christmas miracle (shut up, I know it's June): Magnus has made a friend. Even if Ted's trouble, it's a good sort.

Peter showed up, and was his usual charming self with the captain. I didn't think they'd avoid fighting, but my captain walked away. I am so proud of him. There aren't words for it.

I hope he survives this change.

"I admit to getting a less than favorable impression of that elf. If I may ask, what do you know of him?"

"Not much, really, other than that he's done something to hurt Kory and Terenil and Eric thinks he's a big-bad."

"He seems, like many other villians, to believe himself to be in the right, and to wish to present the 'truth' to the stumbling block in question, through what are perhaps unscrupulous means."

"Yes, I noticed. But they've made it clear they don't want help, or at least not my help, and goddess help Kory if that's because he's got some stupid chauvinistic idea I need to be protected just because I'm a woman. So I'll just watch and play cheerleader."

"You will still be there for them, even through this insult. That itself shows that they are underestimating you." He nods his head to her.

Then, a thought seems to occur to him, connected or not. "You thanked me, when I was speaking with Peter yesterday."

"Yes, I will, and maybe someday they'll see that. And I did. It's always nice to see someone can believe in fairies still."

"Just because I do not know a thing doesn't mean it isn't true. I can't even say for certain that they don't exist in my world."

[vicioussweetie]

"There are a great many people who deny the possibility of all that cannot be proven, and half that can. It is cold and dreary to live among them."

"I imagine that it would be. Running the Cat Business Office, it's foolish to disbelieve in anything sight unseen."

[vicioussweetie]

"I find it generally foolish for anyone. So what sorts of businesses do cats have, where you're from?"

[vongikkingen]

"In the human world, cats pretend to be normal, less intelligent animals to avoid the suspicions of humans. They walk on all fours and do not speak. The Kingdom of Cats is very different, but I have only been there once."

[vicioussweetie]

"You live in the human world, then?"

[vongikkingen]

"I was created there, and that is where I live and work. Unless my work takes me into other worlds."

[vicioussweetie]

"I see. I'm sorry, I'm being rude. Can I get you anything?" She's not sure if he eats or drinks, but still.

[vongikkingen]

"Tea, thank you." Belatedly, he removes his hat and sets it down, and shrugs off his suit jacket and hangs it over his arm. "You may not have a coatrack small enough," he smiles, "but I don't want to leave my things strewn about."

"I'm afraid not, but I can put them someplace safe for you if you'd like."
