Pleasant Friday

Once again, this has been a rather quiet week. There hasn't been anything going on that was worth writing about. Over the last couple of days, I did find two bruises on my legs from my bike accident on Sunday. I'm doing fine otherwise.

The most exciting day of the week was today. 8-8-2008 is my co-worker Karen's birthday. (She won't say how old she is, but I estimate her to be in her late 40's or early 50's.) My boss and I took her out to lunch at a nice Italian restaurant. (That would be Bravo in the Eastwood Towne Center.) I was feeling quite hungry when we arrived. I indulged and had one glass of pinot grigio before my food came. (It was a very delicious wine!) Even though I'm no light weight, that one glass of wine made me feel tipsy. (I guess it was no wonder since I had an empty stomach.) The meal was fantastic. I sobered up after we returned to the library and ate some chocolate cake. However, the wine did a number on my stomach, and it felt a little upset for the rest of the afternoon.

I don't have anything special going on this weekend. There is the Great Lakes Folk Festival happening in East Lansing tonight through Sunday. In recent years, my interest in this event has dwindled. I don't get into folk music, and there are far fewer arts & crafts to check out than in previous years. About the only aspect of this festival that really interests me is the food. There are some booths selling ethnic cuisine that I can't find around here any other time of the year, so I try to get some while it's available. There is also an excellent barbecued rib stand that I often look forward to. Since this festival is right down the street from me, I will go check it out, but I doubt that I will spend that much time there.
