How to Catch a Bogle
by Catherine Jinks
The story of a young girl, Birdie, who is apprenticed to a bogler - One who catches and kills bogles. Bogles are the evil creatures that generally prey on children. They live in old wells, basements, old holes in the ground, etc. This is Birdie's story as she learns about the trade by being bait for the boglers. But sometimes, people are worse than bogles.

Blood Song
by Anthony Ryan
This is an excellent book about a man, Vaelin Al Sorna, who becomes a fighter and more in the Sixth Order. It covers his youth in the Order and how he ends up working for the king across the ocean.
It was well written and absorbing. Like others, it's the beginning of a series. I am somewhat hesitant to start the second book because some reviews have stated it is completely unlike this first book.

The Lies of Locke Lamora
by Scott Lynch
Book one of a series. Excellent! This is a very long book, over 700 pages, but I read 630 of them on the first day. I only put it down because my eyes were very tired.
Locke Lamora is a thief, a priest of the thirteenth god, and a true friend to his friends. The story evolves around him growing up as a thief and learning a sense of values. While he robs, he doesn't rob the underprivileged, just the fabulously wealthy with his small band of thieves - The Gentlemen Bastards.
This is a story of him as he fights the Grey King.
I just purchased book two - Red Seas Under Red Skies - but I have not started it yet. I hope it lives up to the first one.
