[Written with a quill:]

Which writing instruments do you generally favor?

[Written with a ball-point pen:]

Are they the same you could find in your worlds?

[Written with a graphite pencil:]

Also, what are all of these named?

[Written with an ink brush:]

Rydia, I'll need to speak to you.

[Beside the top three, Selphie draws in arrows and responds as follows:

Quill: ???
Pen: Pen!
Pencil: Pencil!

Then she switches to voice.]

Why're you writing with a paintbrush?

Thank you. It was amongst the pile of writing instruments, and I believe I've seen them used in Eblan before.

I usually just use a pen or pencil, personally. Although... I suppose the journal could always use a little colour.

[But she'll leave that to the kids who are around that age to do that sorta stuff.]

Eblan?

Some of those inks and pencil are indeed rather colorful. Perhaps I should procure a few for the book.

Eblan is a kingdom far to the south of Baron, ruled by King Edge. It is home to a long-standing ninja tradition.

Bored, huh? I don't usually write unless there's need to do so; speaking through this is just easier.

I'm available now. Meet you at home?

This message is not quite due to boredom, to be honest. But that can wait until we speak. I'll be there quickly enough.

[And by quickly enough, he means Teleport.]

So will I. See you in a minute.

[Warp spells are wonderful things. She arrives in her room and departs a moment later, heading for his and knocking on the door.]

Cecil?

Come in! Be mindful of the floor!

[Cecil is sitting on the floor, surrounded by enough pens, pecils, quills and brushes and crayons to last five years or so. On his knees is an enormous, heavy-looking volume bound with leather.]

Keyboards? I'm not familiar with those. What do they look like?

A button for everything? It must be quite large and complicated to use. Would it work with a book?

It depends on what I'm writing. I usually use a pen or a pencil.

[For like working on his schedule.]

But if I'm doing calligraphy, I prefer a quill.

Do you favor any particular ink type or color? A specific pen or pencil?

I prefer just black ink. It's simple and yet can make amazing things. But for pens, I prefer ball-point pens. They're neater. Pencils, just the normal writing type pencil will do.

[Before April, their writing instruments were probably whatever they found in dumpsters, or at the dump. Or even in sewer water. But Luceti's giving him much more variety.]

You say that ball-point pens are neater. As compared to what? Are there any pencils that are not the normal writing type?

[By the type he's through with this, there might be a shortage of anything that even remotely looks like it could be used to write.]

I've grown accustomed to the 'ball-point' style of pens.

[Mostly because he needs to write to communicate, and it's more of a nuisance to carry a whole bunch of quills and ink all the time.]

Would you like me to bring back a few? I'm already stocking up on everything.

[From quills to pencils to crayons.]

[Considering he goes through so many...]

I'd appreciate that.

Would pens with blue ink be fine?
