How YOU doin' ? ;)
Yesterday and today, I was on the prowl for some new wardrobe items - a new belt and maybe a sweater. Whilst my obsession with belts isn't QUITE as hardcore as Kim's sexy-shoes frenzy or Priscilla's hair-clip collection, I've been wanting one for a while .. so the desire has been building up over time.
First Stop: Broadway/Market City
Not the best place, I'll agree - but closest to uni and I had a 4 hr break that day, so I thought - hell why not?
[Glue] Found a really nice grey one which had no price tag (heh, typical) so I walked up to the counter to get it beeped. The price that came up? $79. Smackeroons, I felt like such a tightwad after that came up, cos the chick at the counter just stood there smiling expectantly (do they get paid commission or something?) and my blurted reply was "oh .. er maybe another day!" Keep in mind this was AFTER I'd taken my wallet out - honestly thought it'd be something like $50 or less ... I'll make sure I check the brand before I bother doing so next time .___. (G-Star Raw)
[General Pants] Found a similar one. Price tag = $89. Staff were pretty nice, though. Apparently the whole store was on sale. What I find really ... gut-wrenching is when you see a sign "From $30! Prices as marked" and there's this giant rack of cool looking shirts, causing you to rush over. Closer inspection reveals that the only there actually costing $30 is a wrinkled singlet surrounded by a whole bunch of things which cost >$80. Pretty smart technique, but argh -rips hair out- .
OH yeah, almost forgot. Hunted for my sweater here. Ok I'll definitely wait til the Christmas Day sales, damnit. I saw one which looked so thin I thought it'd be cheap. The price tag? $169. Sucks how my brain works. I keep forgetting less isn't always cheaper. Look at bloody Supre or whatever. A friggen thong as a top would probably cost more than a less flesh-revealing shirt.
Mum gave me a bit of info after I came crying to her about the cost of belts, haha. Such as girls only wear their formal dresses once or twice yet they cost tonnes - this isn't including hair, make-up, nails, jewellery, accessories, shoes etc which are all rarely-used.
Here I am complaining about belts and suits which I could wear everyday for the next 5 years without anyone noticing. Guess I should try to dress like a girl one day. It'd probably shut me up. xD
Jya,
Hungy.
