A new page. After long periods of disuse, two cases brought by Christian anti-homosexual lobbyists resulted in the blasphemy laws being repealed in England and Wales in 2008. In Scotland and Northern Ireland the laws are dormant and unusable.

What causes this behaviour? Two recent examples below. In the religious world punishments for apostasy and heresy have been some of the gravest offences, and creation of blasphemy laws has been a thorn in the side of mature, tolerant society for some time.
