Back in the groove.

Yesterday was my last day off and it was a good day. I rode the bike for 2 hours while watching the original Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn. Fun movie, had forgotten how much I liked it. Had a nice dinner that I once again actually cooked - nice to cook on occasion! Did some grocery shopping and got some ice cream at Cold Stone (num). Assuming I can keep it off, I have now finally lost all the Christmas weight. Shew, bout time. The stress eating of the past few months has not been helpful in that endeavor.

After getting home with goodies and cooking, I spent my evening fluffing about with FFXI and I got the jacket mockup done for Michele. This was a much simpler pattern and I scaled it down to a size 2. Hopefully it fits and I can make the real one without having to tweak anything. Both dress and jacket mockup are getting mailed to North Carolina when I get off work in the morning.

I have pictures of the completed dress and jacket mockup. They're behind the cut. The first has a cross-brace inside the bodice area so that the back stretches out to show how the back looks when it's actually on a person. The second is just the dress on the hanger with the jacket (no, the final jacket will not be white...)

Tonight has been a pseudo chill night at work. Only seen two cases myself, one that was a quick in and out. The other I did surgery on though and removed a ruptured eye. And then when I walked in, the surgeon was in the middle of cutting a bloat, so it's been both chill and busy. The nice thing is that there's been stuff to do, but the hospital has had a relaxed feeling about it. That's what we all need. Relaxed.

I had a silly and kind of funny stupid attack tonight and left both my wallet and my packed lunch at home (they weren't even together). That meant that when I got almost to work (35 miles) and my gas light came on and I went to get my wallet to get some gas, I realized I was screwed. And when I was walking into work is when I noticed the lack of lunch. Fortunately, I have a nice boss who lent me 30 bucks to get some food and gas on the way home. Just have to be really good about traffic laws so I don't get pulled over without my license on me.

My parents get back from visiting my Aunt in Phoenix tonight. It will be nice to see them again on Sunday. In the meantime I have been taking care of my dad's "pets" by keeping the bird feeders full of bird food. I swear, he's turning into one of those old guys that sits in the park and feeds the pigeons, and feels guilty if he doesn't feed them, like they can't find food for themselves... Ah well, it's his hobby. I just found it very amusing that when he asked me to feed them, it was like he was all worried for them.
