Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Shizuo is tall and lanky. He is lean rather than muscular. With the amount of weight he throws around you would EXPECT him to look a bit more beefed up, but he just looks athletic, not toned.

2. How old is he?
23 or 24 by this point.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Shizuo generally slouches, with his shoulders hunched in a bit. He walks around with his hands in his pockets and looking directly in front of him, slightly downward. He seems to not want or be interested in attention. That said, he will always look people in the eye and if he is MAD AT SOMEONE his posture shifts to very open and aggressive- broad shouldered, a stiff-stomping walk, (or run, if he is chasing).

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Shizuo has broken pretty much every bone in his body numerous times. AGAINST ALL LOGIC he recovers stronger instead of weaker. So by now he can hurl around tons of weight without doing any notable damage to himself. He also doesn't appear to have any scars and he sure doesn't limp from his numerous injuries. Basically his health is pretty ridiculously good but short of being a superpower.

He is also generally in shape and physically fit and has great stamina.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
When he's not enraged, Shizuo's movements are slow and lazy. He isn't in a hurry and you would think he doesn't get excited about much. They are simple, he doesn't waste a lot of movement. He doesn't fidget or make many gestures.

When he's MAD he's just very...direct. Sharp. He's not graceful or stocky, just incredibly to-the-point. Punch, kick, throw. Again with no wasted movement: if all he needs to do is hit you with his head he won't bother moving his arms or legs to do it. If he only needs his arm he won't bother to change his stance.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Shizuo is very hot. MUN'S OPINION of course, but he is tall, seems to lack anything UNATTRACTIVE, and is strong, lean, and has a very sexy grin when he's psyched up enough to use it.

Shizuo's opinion of HIMSELF is pretty low. He's got a very self deprecating side that he is so factual about it doesn't really come off as whiny or depressing. He's spent most of his life convinced if he can't hold in his anger he'll seriously hurt the people he cares about, and upset because he CAN'T hold in his anger. Most of Shizuo's self opinion stems off of this fact. THUS while he doesn't think he's ugly, he probably doesn't think he is good looking, nor does it give him any kind of confidence boost. His brother is the hot one. His own looks are pretty irrelevant. At best he might think he looks kinda cool sometimes =|a

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Light and clear, in the yellow-ish hue. No scars.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Dyed yellow hair, I imagine it's typical Nice Anime Hair, so softish and definitely shiny. He probably combs it when it's wet so it falls a little unevenly.

9. What color are his eyes?
Brown

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
His height. he's about 6'2", which is very tall in Japan.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
I don't know exactly what this means, but with Shizuo it's safe to say 'everywhere'. =|b

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Six of the same suit! Or more than six, really. Probably a few dozen. He dresses up as a bartender each and every day, including bow tie and vest. The only variation is his purple shades, which he wears basically all the time except for when he's about to kill someone (so they don't get broken).

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
His clothes fit him very well! He is perfectly comfortable in them, despite the fact that he isn't a bartender and wears the same outfit pretty much no matter what.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Always dresses the same. It's POSSIBLE he owns other clothes I suppose, and for Hometrail he is going to need to acquire new outfits pretty soon. But in canon he just wears the bartender outfit.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
He's got a slightly rough, low, fairly attractive voice. And a strong set of lungs, he can yell really damn loud.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Shizuo is fond of using as few words as necessary. He isn't OPPOSED to talking, and will say what needs to be said, but he's just not very wasteful and if he can get the idea across with one word, or a grunt, he will. His tone is generally smooth and even, a little slow. But of course if he gets irritated it speeds up, and he becomes prone to dragging out words aggressively, speaking louder, and using ruder speech.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
I don't speak Japanese so it's hard for me to say if he has a regional accent or not. I imagine he uses less formal speech most of the time. His only verbal tic is a general lack of verbosity.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese. I'm sure he knows a little bit of engrish too.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Speech gets much harsher, louder, more aggressive when he's mad.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
If he's mad, he's good at improv in the sense that whatever comes out of his mouth tends to be situationally hilarious, and he certainly didn't put much thought into it. Such comments mostly revolve around justifying why he is now going to beat you to death and how it is your own fault. But otherwise he isn't really. Nor does he put a lot of thought into his words, so mostly he just doesn't talk or lot, or says whatever comes to mind.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Definitely not eloquent. Shizuo is a man of rough "HuUH?" when he's annoyed and dots more often than not. His speech capabilities are generally below average. He will definitely not wow you with conversation. Ever.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
...lol. Not really. Either. Shizuo has a good sense of character intuition. He makes up his mind about people quickly and doesn't really change it. And he is not intellectually STUPID but... underdeveloped, maybe. Shizuo has never relied on his brains; he's all about will power and strength. So while he is perfectly capable of understanding things explained to him, or even figuring them out himself, he moooostly doesn't really care and may not listen unless it's immediately relevant to him. He's not STREET smart because Shizuo's method of survival is to break anything that offends him, and this has always worked for him! So he never actually learned any survival skills, because he's pretty much impossible to kill.

BASICALLY, Shizuo is perfectly intelligent, but not observant, nor does he use that. So it's easy for him to come off as stupid and he doesn't particularly care. HOWEVER he doesn't talk a lot so it's also easy to MISS that he doesn't seem too smart.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Again with Shizuo just sort of skips thinking in most cases. THAT SAID, he has occasionally been known to plan ahead a little bit. In which case he seems to think on his feet just fine.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Hmm... intuitive and idealistic. Shizuo tends to act on his feelings, and he tends to have pretty strong feelings on matters. He's not a jesus by any stretch, so his 'ideal' is more 'don't annoy me', but despite his greatest efforts to be practical, he will act on what he feels at that second.

And it should go without saying by now, but what Shizuo DOES pretty much directly reflects what Shizuo THINKS so his acting and thought process are about the same.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
A fairly good but otherwise typical Japanese education up through highschool. He got into Raira, so he must have had pretty good grades. But wasn't amazing or anything.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Lolo. Shizuo is a natural at violence! He is an anything-goes street fighter, with no formal education on the matter, but he's probably never been beaten. At best he's been matched. He has no ambition job-wise, other than to KEEP a job, as he's been fired many times because of his rage issues. Nor does he seem to have hobbies or areas of interest, other than Ikebukuro itself, which he genuinely loves. The only thing he is interested in learning more about is how to control his rage. And even then I doubt he is exactly reading self help books or seeking psychological help.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert. Shizuo is very much aware of the fact that he needs connections to people, and perfectly happy that he has managed to keep a few of those. Large groups of people don't seem to bother him, but he's not the type to grab other's attention, and will flat out ignore 99% of humanity if he is a cranky mood. If he is a GOOD mood, there is still a high chance that he will just give a wave and not actually stop for conversation.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Moooood swings. THAT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS BY NOW. Shizuo gets annoyed like anyone else does, the difference is he can't control his temper and little annoyances lead to him doing what you always WANT to do when people piss you off: smacking them upside the head with a road sign while yelling at them for their rudeness/idiocy.

He tries REALLY hard to be even tempered, but when he loses his cool he isn't just angery, but manic. He grins and talks loudly and draws a lot of attention and doesn't care and makes a serious effort to kill things.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Relaxed but withdrawn. Shizuo honestly likes people, but he doesn't feel much of a need to know all about them or meet new ones. That said, he's not generally outright rude without a reason. He'll talk to people who talk to him, and respond with typical casual politeness. He similarly zen with all kinds of situations, and basically it takes a lot to fluster him, and mostly he will just get pissed off instead.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
I. For the purposes of this question, I would say that Shizuo's entire life is one long stream of reactions. He does his best to remain in neutral, but ultimately something jars him out of and then he is reacting (generally violently).

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
I. don't think shizuo has ever run from anything in his life.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
I. ...Violent? Sometimes? Shizuo doesn't have much of a sense of humor, but he can sometimes appreciate irony. I guess. Pranks might work if they didn't just annoy him instead. HE'S PRETTY MUCH JUST A STOIC UNTIL HE GETS MAD.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Anger management issues =Da some social anxiety and self worth issues as a result of them, but actually surprisingly minor side effects considering just how bad his rage it. Shizuo deals with his anger management issues by... trying to manage it. He HAS gotten better, but he's still a long way away from just not getting angry and hurting things.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
-His brother eating his pudding and Shizuo trying to throw the refrigerator at him (breaking several bones)
-Many repeat incidents of losing his temper, breaking bones, going to hospitals which lead to him to just NOT TRYING TO HOLD BACK and going all out all the time
-Injuring a woman and completely trashing her store while trying to save her from some yakuza thugs
-Meeting Izaya and trying to kill each other
-Meeting Celty and gaining a bff
-His brother buying him a ton of bartender outfits so he could keep being a bartender and not have to change jobs all the time
-Promptly losing that job (izaya's fault)
-Getting a new job as a bodyguard for Tom-san

14. What does he fear?
Hurting people because he couldn't control his strength, particularly people he ISN'T mad at, views as innocents/unrelated, and of course his friends.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
-To gain the strength of will to control his temper and his own monstrous physical strength.
-To kill Izaya (or at least permanently chase him out of Ikebukuro)

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
He doesn't really have SECRETS, but he doesn't talk about his fear of hurting people much.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Found some canon for this in the novels. Shizuo describes his parents as being loving but ordinary.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
His younger sibling, Kasuka, is probably the most important person in Shizuo's life. He's stood with Shizuo, unflinching through their lives, while Shizuo hurt and scared the shit out of most of the people around him. He never judged him or feared him or lectured him. Was just always there. Shizuo loves Kasuka a lot. Kasuka, similarly, loves Shizuo a lot in his very quiet way.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
None that we know of.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
I don't think he would really assign family roles to them, no =|a

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Shizuo's best friend is Celty, a Dullahan. He was introduced to her by Shinra in his first year of highschool. I think they have only recently become closer though, as the both spend a lot of time wandering Ikebukuro.

6. Does he have other close friends?
Tom-san, his employer and former sempai, is probably as close to Shizuo as Celty is, since they spend most of their time walking around Ikebukuro together, and Tom seems to have the greatest power to call Shizuo off. Sadly we don't see them interact a lot.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Eehhh. He actually doesn't seem like he would have problems getting along with people if approached. In a way he is very calm and confident about himself. HOWEVER, he is generally asocial and won't seek people out, or particularly encourage deepening relationships outside of rare cases. This has less to do with PEOPLE and more to do with the fact that he's afraid of ultimately hurting them.

And then of course there is the fact that when people annoy him he throws them into walls. But they almost always deserved that, so it doesn't really count as 'not getting along'.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
I. Kind of doubt he could choose. He has very few of both which matter to him. I GUESS friends, since the family that is important to him also counts as friends?

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
I.....lol. Who knows. He probably had some awkward crushes on various girls throughout middleschool and highschool, and mostly ignored them. I AM AWARE THAT HE SEEMS TO GET INTO SOMETHING WITH A BLOND GIRL LATER, but I don't have any info on that at this time.

Generally Shizuo is pretty much not into the romantic scene. I doubt he thinks about it much anymore. Much like how he doesn't make an effort to make friends.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Iii imagine he would be attracted to someone cute and kind, but without backbone and enough of a toppy/demanding personality to top him, because he's pretty unlikely to initiate anything. Doesn't have to be someone chatty, in fact, he doesn't really have ANY chatty friends. But it could be! Obviously someone who wouldn't be afraid of his reputation or strength.

Otherwise he is pretty accepting, I doubt looks are super important, or gender.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
Nope.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Orihara Izaya 8D;;;

Izaya and Shizuo are basically foils. Like batman and joker! Only more ridiculous and less cool. Izaya is the guy that can manipulate ANYONE to get his way, but has never been able to break, direct, or otherwise own Shizuo, nor can he stand against Shizuo's incredible strength. Shizuo didn't like Izaya from the start, has never changed his mind, and has a knack for correctly assuming things are Izaya's fault, despite not even REMOTELY having Izaya's mental abilities.

Meanwhile, Izaya is the guy Shizuo can never catch, never beat, never really scare off or get rid of quell. He can attack him, chase him out temporarily, even beat him a bit, but he can't stop or predict or understand Izaya's manipulations. All he knows is that IZAYA IS UP TO SHIT and thus he NEEDS TO DIE.

Ooootherwise Shizuo has new enemies like everyday. Basically whoever mistakenly finds the balls to stand up to him and is promptly trounced. He doesn't actually consider them enemies and only holds a grudge against Izaya.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
Prooobably a 1? I have some bias as I assume a character is bisexual to some degree unless there is a very strong argument for him being exclusively hetero. However, I really don't think Shizuo THINKS about stuff like sex or attraction very deeply. He was raised in a hetero-dominant society and despite being aware of homosexuals and not at all homophobic, has never put anything thought into having sex with men himself. He only puts the very basic amount of thought into having sex with women, and generally is not a particularly sexually driven creature.

I FIGURE he would probably not have a one night stand with a guy, and miiight with a woman. Where as if it was a guy he knew and liked he wouldn't be particularly put off or bothered by the 'gay' thing. And of course a woman he knows and likes wouldn't be a problem =|b

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
I don't think it's exceptionally important. He is still young but I think he burns off a lot of that energy throwing large objects at people, and the rest of it goes to focusing on being chill and keeping too himself. He's largely introverted, and the combo of not really MEETING a lot of people or going to a lot of social events, with his reputation for being terrifying, along with his fear of hurting people. It's not like he is CONSTANTLY RESISTING HAVING SEX, it's like he decided a while ago he wasn't going to get very close to many people and obviously having sex went with that. It wasn't super important to begin with, so he's never really questioned this.

I assume he is a virgin, and is pretty much okay and not super embarrassed by that. HOWEVER, while that is how I choose to play him, I do think it's entirely possibly that some girl topped him a while back and he did not resist.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
I kind of. Doubt he knows. He's kind of adorably shy about things concerning his friends and their approval. So pretty much anyone he cares about could top him I think.

As popular as HATE/RAGE SEX with Shizuo is in the fandom, I don't think he would confuse punching someone in the face with putting his dick in them. So chances are sex with Shizuo would be pretty vanilla until he got used to it. Then how it developed from there would depend on his partner a lot. On ONE HAND I doubt he's very kinky. On the other hand he is super strong and generally non judgmental so there is plenty of possibility there for someone interested in exploring it with him.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
IDK his birthdate )=

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Not spiritual or religious. I doubt he's considered the existence of god very strongly, it's possible he believes in it but has never cared. He probably honors some basic shinto practices, but more out of respect to his culture than belief in or care for the religion. In general it just doesn't have anything to do with him.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Of course he does, as do most people. For example, Shizuo certainly doesn't seem to feel too bad about destroying public property. But I think if ht was personal property he would but very willing to help fix it.

In general, Shizuo just believes in being decent. Not glaring or making jerk faces or scamming people or attacking them or taunting them or lying or making excuses for your shit or prying into their lives. As much as Shizuo REALLY can't control his temper, he's never completely lost it on someone who didn't obviously deserve it in some way. Sure, he goes OVERBOARD, but they were unquestionably people in need of a serious smack over the head.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Well if your belief is that BEING A DICKWAD IS JUSTIFIED he probably hates you and wants to beat your face in. However, outside of assholes being assholes, Shizuo is pretty chill and doesn't really care what your religion or faith or whatever gets you through the day is.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He is suuuuuuper prejudice against dickwads, since they anger him and then he throws things. He's spent most of his life being taunted, harassed, ganged up on, and otherwise verbally, physically or psychologically attacked by assholes that want to get the best of him and it really pisses him off.

Otherwise, he has some basic Japanese vs Gaijin prejudice, but it's verrry little and amounts mostly to feeling more comfortable when surrounded by Japanese than by foreigners, or slightly judging things like "yeah gaijin probably have guns" or various other stereotypes. He doesn't actually have anything against foreigners or think less of them, he just categorizes them differently.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
He's comfortable. He has a stable job (finally!) and I imagine it pays pretty decently. Shizuo is clearly not big on material wealth, so I doubt he makes much more than he needs, or lives very lavishly.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He's something of a legend, actually. Everyone in Ikebukuro knows Heiwajima Shizuo, generally argued to be the strongest man in the city, and probably all of Tokyo, or maybe Japan. In fact, his job as a bodyguard mostly revolves around toting Shizuo's name so people don't BOTHER to try to fight.

It seems like Shizuo has been developing his reputation all his life, and really solidified it during highschool. For his part, he doesn't seem to really think much about it or care. In general I imagine he would rather people NOT know him as raging berserker but since it is true he can't really begrudge them thinking it. Having a reputation has neither gone to his head or really changed much about how he sees himself.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
We haven't seen his home yet. I imagine it's a small, normal singles apartment in Tokyo. Nothing to write home about. I doubt he shares it with anyone (but it's possible he lives with Tom-san?) and it's definitely just a place to crash. Ikebukuro is Shizuo's home.

He probably keeps it in semi-decent condition, but not super tidy or anything.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Cigarettes =|a he probably eats out a lot since I can't imagine him cooking. He's not spending it on clothes, but probably on dry cleaning.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
He's a bodyguard for a debt collector. He is very good at it, it is probably the ideal job for him. Mostly he stands there and looks intimidating while Tom-san tells them to pay up, but if they refuse, or are cheeky, or try to run, Shizuo does the leg/muscle work and takes them down, shakes them around, and gets them to pay up.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Shizuo's hobbies seem to be simply existing in Ikebukuro, and chasing Izaya out whenever necessary. We never really see him doing much in his personal time except for hanging with Celty, or observing the life of the city. And honestly that seems to make him happy. Shizuo's heart is in Ikebukuro, and in a way he guards the city by simply being in it.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
I don't think Shizuo is a drinker at all. If there is anything he does NOT need in life, it's his inhibitions lowered. He probably got drunk once again never againnn. Otherwise I imagine he eats whenever he is hungry, but doesn't care about food much. Skipping meals or eating on the run is probably pretty ordinary for him. And I imagine he either eats out or warms up simple take home meals. He doesn't seem like much of a cook.
