Hiccup app 3/3 (that's not so bad!) talkingfishbone December 30 2010, 20:30:03 UTC
Third person sample: He is so dead.

He is--he is so very dead.

Hiccup runs hell for leather past Raven’s Point, towards his dragon’s grotto. He know it won’t last; he knows better than even the most overprotective in his tribe when his breath will fail and he’ll need to stop. He’ll do so with definite reluctance.

What he wouldn’t give for wings. And maybe a lighter pack; could’ve probably skipped out on the fish.

But wings; especially times like these, he envies Toothless. If he didn’t have to rely on his friend to dive through the skies, he would be long gone by now. Soaring over waves, puncturing clouds, scaring the ever loving snot out of seagulls.

Maybe that’s all he needs. He just needs to take a flight and let the cool air clear his head. Some time in the skies to forget who he is and what he has to do tomorrow.

…nah, he just needs to not be here come tomorrow.

…and there goes his breath.

With a heavy thunk, the chief’s son lets the leather backpack straps fall from his shoulders as he staggers towards a tree. Hiccup leans his forearm to the bark, his forehead to that. He closes his eyes.

“Why did you have to pick me?” he mutters weakly. Realizing that’s a pretty dumb question, he doesn’t speak again, just focuses on getting some air down his throat, into his lungs.

He doesn't know how long he stands there, but it can't be more than a few minutes. Hiccup wants to move--yeah, move until he's cleared the whole island of Berk--so there's no lingering. Once his breathing clears he shoulders the pack and continues through the forest. He begrudgingly decides he doesn't feel like running anymore. It might just have something to do with how his pack's strap is digging into his skin but...
First person sample: […well this is uncomfortable.

Hiccup doesn’t remember the flight out, nor what possessed him to try sleeping on a sheet of granite. Now that he thinks about it, he barely remembers even making it to the cove. Probably the adrenaline’s fault. Groaning to himself, the teenager rubs at his face and tries to sit up despite the protest of his aching back.]

Okay, buddy, you see me trying to sleep on something harder than my own head, you…

I don’t know, stop me. Preferably without break--…iiing….

[…Aaand he’s talking to himself. In a completely unfamiliar room. Uhm.

Hiccup looks down at the white, stone basin he’s lying in and promptly scrambles out of it.]

What the-

Uhhhhh….

[This is…not where he was trying to run away to.]
