+  Writing essays and writing fan-fiction are very similar. They can both take up several pages, earn or destroy a certain amount of pride, and take inspiration to start and continue. The only difference is one you can BS your way through, the other not so much.

Forgot to mention this but I think it's still relevant. A few days ago LiveJournal wouldn't work properly.
