quite the crafty one
so i finally bought my first piece of "grown up" luggage for the amsterdam trip (which is only *3* weeks away!) but it was too boring. Everyone has black luggage and i didn't much like the plain-ness of it anyway so i made my first stencil and stenciled a white skull and crossbones (of course) on it. it came out pretty well, if i do say so myself. i was too impatient to make sure the stencil was stuck down all the way so i got a buncha bleeding of the paint but thats what black paint was made for, right? i love it. and i know that when jon comes home hes gonna want one too. i was going to do a bunch of little skulls all over but i think i'm going to wait until sunday (my next day off) and see if i still want to go through all that work. the bummer thing is that i used freezer paper to make my stencil, which is great because you can iron it directly on to the stencilee and work from there, but you can only do that once. i think if i do little skulls i will do it on cardstock and then just use a spray adhesive so i can move it around and use it a bunch. i'm going to become a stenciling fool!
other than that i have just been doing the usual: working, knitting, housework, working and working. hahah. i think this week i'm getting my (stupid) hostess shift taken away to be given to the new girl. thank goodness, i hated that shift. that puts me at only having 4 days a week on the schedule but that is a-ok with me. that frees me up to pick up thursday waiting shifts. woot! and a few of the girls are leaving in june/july so i will get some nights and other days then, and i will be back up to 5 days again.
we are finally getting the house back into order. vacation kills us because its not really vacation when we go to orange county. we have sooo much to do when we are down there so by the time we get back we are more tired than when we left. so because we are so tired and burnt out we tend to let the house go. but i got the living room and kitchen clean and our bedroom so all that is left is the 2nd bedroom. its coming along, slowly.
i need to find a good knit sock pattern for the plane ride to new york and then over the ocean. as most of you know, i hate flying. HATE IT. ask mike, he will tell you all about it. in fact, i hate flying so much that i haven't been on a plane since the time i flew with him to redding for xmas a few years ago. i will drive across the usa to NOT get on a plane. unfortunately there is no road from here to england, so i'm going to have to fly. i don't know what it is about flying, maybe it is just that i don't fly often so i'm not used to it. i hope that having something to do while on the 6 HOUR *cringe* flight will help me get through it but i can't find a plain ol' sock pattern. i keep finding all these cutesy, lacy ones but jon is a boy, and thus does not want cutesy, lacy socks. i might have to make one up myself.
alright, i am going to get back to cleaning this room instead of sitting here wasting time.
