Darker Than Black likes to show pretty falling stars in its opening credits. Thing is, in that series, the stars are fake (being part of an
Alien Sky) and are tied to the lives of
Contractors. So, every falling star represents a death.

8D Darker than Black is actually.... ridiculously sad at times

like apparently, all the people that became contractors had to reach something akin to the depths of despair - I'm not sure it's a requirement, just how they ended up being picked out. So literally every single one of them went from being completely miserable to being emotionless murderers
and then after that Havoc actually lost her powers as a contractor and regained her emotional capacity.... no wonder she's a fucking basket case when her trauma buttons are pinged

8D;;; seriously man, that's like too much strain for the psyche
I often wonder how terrible a person I must be to actually have Havoc in a game post-death. For as much as she has told people that death was too easy and that she should probably go on living, I mean shit, the girl needs a break. I still adore the ending she got in NG. l-lol though it's kind of amusing that one of my most miserable characters actually got a decent end... Miharu's probably still rotting away in the wreckage of that place.
I mean, not like a terrible terrible person, but. There's gotta be some level of sadism in something like that.
