About HBP

I went to see it yesterday with some friends. Luckily I was sit alone with Celine which means I could purr (no, purrrrrrrrrrrrrr) all that I wanted when Draco was on screen. FTW.

I saw it in German, so I missed a lot of dialogue subtilities, but I really enjoyed it nevertheless. (I so have to watch it again ASAP in French or English!)

I'm not a book purist : for me, books and cinema are two different medias, and I understand you have to express things differently. If I want HBP by Rowling, I read it. When I watch a film, I'm quite glad if it brings something new.

That being said, on to the spoilers!

Draco was hot. Seriously.

He's got so much screen time! *SQUEE*

Felton was really good.

I really loved how his pristine appearence of the first scene deteriorates gradually, and how he looks completely crushed in the Great Hall, when Katie Bell comes back.

Speaking of the first scene : I suppose it's really wrong but wow. He really was hot. I think you're not supposed to feel that way about a character who just happened to break the hero's nose but, oh my!
All clad in black, and with that assurance and contempt? Guuuuuuuuuh!

But then during Dumby's welcome talk he's deeply lost in thoughts, and you already see the despereation there, and how too much is asked of him.

The dead bird scene? Oh, Draco! I love you...

But now, as for my two favourite scenes ever in the book (Sectumsempra and the Lightning-Struck Tower) well, well, well.
Sectumsempra is the one which desappointed me the most.

Granted, that Draco's break-down was caused by Katie is quite a sensible thing, even if I liked the idea of Draco moping in the bathroom with Mimi on an almost daily-basis.
But Harry bursting in and shouting: "I know what you have done!" WTF!!!
It erases all the possibilities that the two boys could come to an understanding.
Because what's so strong in that scene in the book is the "if only they could talk" feeling. And you don't get it here, because Harry immediately attack. You don't have the moment when he may feel sorry or at least curious about why Draco's crying in the loo.
And the Sectumsempra!
I really didn't get the impression Harry was affected! He's not even trying to stop the blood!

And the Tower scene?

Firstly: why Harry wasn't stunned under his invisibility cloak?
It's quite OOC to see him able to act and doing nothing.

Then: Draco didn't lower his wand!!!! Why Yates, why?!!!!
Ok, he was shivering and totally miserable, but still.
And the "I'm trying to save my own skin" rather than the "he'll kill my parents" ?! Why Yates, why?!!!

That being said, the non-lowering of the wand is somehow a bit compensated by the fact Bella and the other Deatheaters are there before Snape.
Draco doing nothing as Bella is there shouting "do it, do it!" is really good.
I quite loved how Snape prevents Harry to do anything, and during a moment, Harry certainly believes Snape's going to help Dumby. Hehe.
But... Draco's got the mark? Shows it to Dumbledore? Where that is written in the book?!!!!

There isn't really an Hogwarts' battle, but I loved Bella ruining the Great Hall.
Helena B-C really rocks!
And the look on Draco's face when he casts a last look on the Hall? Pure win.
*loves her boy*

On a side note:

Am I the only one to think Ron and Lavender totally had fandom characterisations? I mean, ok, Lavender is an idiot and Ron eats a lot. But to that extent? It really looks more like fics than books for me.

Narcissa? Why is she older than her sister? And dark hair? WTF? Granted, I quite liked the way her eyes watered during the Unbrekable Vow.

I'm quite desappointed we don't see a single of Snape's DADA lessons.

And the Gaunt episode? Where was it?!!!

And oh, we see Blaise and Pansy, but where were Crabbe and Goyle? Not only did I like the idea of them being Polyjuiced in little girls but, hellooooo Yates, you're aware that Crabbe is supposed to die in DH?!! And that it's important?

harry potter, ciné, draco, fangirling
