SF signing, Sony Metreon.
Yesterday, goweli, porpentine and I hit the Veronica Mars cast signing at the Sony Metreon. goweli kindly got there first to hold a place in line for the rest of us, putting us somewhere around twenty people from the front of the queue. This was at eleven o'clock. The line would remain light and 'why did we hurry, again?' until twelve-thirty or so, then explode into sudden activity. By the time we left, people were standing outside in a vast line that curved around the end of the block. Let's hear it for being early!
The line itself was actually reasonably entertaining. We know the Metreon pretty well, and introduced the people ahead of and behind us to the wonders of the local food court. The folks directly in front of us -- a mother/daughter couple -- had just moved here from Tennessee and wanted to know if our recent incredibly heavy rains were normal. They picked a great year to relocate to 'sunny' California. porpentine let me play with his GameBoy, and I got my first crack at 'Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories', which is very impressive and doubtless addictive.
The line compacted tightly at around one-thirty, and then the grumbling began, since we were all pressed together like sardines. The signing didn't start until two-twenty, which caused more grumbling, although the gleeful cheers when the cast members ran down the line were fun to hear.
Everyone was so nice. They remembered ohimesamamama from Minnesota, and were pleased that we knew her. Lilly's actress was out sick, but the other six were there, and it was totally, totally worth attending. I don't have my pictures developed just yet, but I got to have my picture taken with Jason Dohring! Who was also totally nice.
The Sony Store gave us a big blue bag to protect our posters and autograph sheets, and we scampered away into the afternoon.
