First of all, I'd like to point out that it amuses me to no end that Veronica Mars was the only thing up against the President. Haha, Veronica Mars could so take George W.
Anyway, I have a theory on the mystery for this arc and I wanted to share as well as some general comments on last night's episode (not any deep insight, just first reactions). Obviously, spoilers for last night's episode, but please note that I don't read spoilers so you can be assured this is all speculation.
I think it was the Dean's wife. Firstly, we all know how RT likes to deceive us and give us reason to dismiss someone as a suspect simply because he makes it seem like it just wouldn't be possible. So, it would make sense that it could be the Dean's wife. There are obvious flaws in this theory, but usually those can be explained when all is said and done.
I think that Cyrus finding out about the affair would be motive enough for her, but there could be other things involved. For example, he could have threatened to fire Professor Landry, to divorce her (and I'm sure there would be a pre-nup involved) or something else.
She could have seen Veronica's paper when she was with Prof. Landry (with him knowing or without). He could have told her about the paper ("I've got this great student who wrote this really good paper, blah blah"), so that would tie Veronica's paper into the story.
I don't think she would have realized that she wouldn't get any life insurance if it was ruled as a suicide, so she went to Keith. Either she feels that Keith will never find out, or that he won't look into it and just turn it over to the police, etc. Or maybe she'll frame someone.
Okay, so I'm sorta stretching with that part, but I thought it was somewhat plausible.
Thoughts?
About the episode, I thought it was really good. I loved the Mac/Veronica/Parker scenes and I actually felt bad for Piz (which I know they are doing on purpose! Argh). Mac was hilarious in every scene. I enjoyed Keith in this episode as well. And hot damn! Jason and Kristen have some great chemistry.
Also, the promo next week? I try not to take the promos too seriously because really, they are so skewed from the actual episodes. *crosses fingers*
