I was watching the news and they're thinking of taking evolution out of Florida's public school curriculum. An elderly gentleman dressed in a suit who by almost any standards would be considered intelligent upon first inspection spoke for this change and intelligent design. He held up two oranges. He says, "On the way here, I was gonna eat these

I'm sorry that you terribly misconstrued what I thought I had very simply written. Christianity is a religion that is evangelical, yes, we can agree to this? The sharing of faith and spreading of the Gospels is the main gig, yes? Ok, grand.
Let me now make this very clear that I am not in the least threatened, but rather exquisitely bothered by this mindset. It's not the religion itself that bothers me; someone loves this Jesus character? Great! I'm very happy for them that they can lead a fulfilled life that way. I'm thrilled for their spiritual enlightenment and their personal convictions, and am not degrading them in the least. What angers me, nay, enrages me, is when someone has the audacity to tell me how to live my life. Which, I'm sorry to say, is where my stereotype comes from. Christians never fail to offer their (always unasked for, in my case) supreme knowledge of everything that of course is superior to mine! Voila.
That's really all I have to say here. You have your opinion, and I have mine, and I am perfectly okay with that. I'm really not responding to this to try to change your belief, which I think is the pivotal difference between my mindset and the Christian mindset, and which is probably the basis of this disagreeance. I think I rather politely explained myself and my feelings without throwing in those nasty little words like 'threatened', 'degrade', 'ignorant' and 'unintelligent' that you seem to have a penchant for. If you would like to discuss it at any further length, feel free to e-mail me at Lks714@aol.com, if you so desire, as long as you don't use those words I'm not too fond of!
Sorry Jen, for having this little dalliance all up on your elljay, I do feel as though I'm in tenth grade again, duking it out online, except at least it's a little more important than boys and parties this time.
