A MEME!

Rules: 1.COMMENT WITH A MYSTERIOUS COMMENT OF YOUR CHOICE.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Post the names of five fictional characters and your thoughts on each.

chickadilly gave me the letter "K", so here I go:

1. Klinger on M*A*S*H--the tough guy with the heart of gold; I love how his character developed from being a (hysterical) cross-dresser trying to get out of the Army to a responsible adult who decided to make the military his career; Jamie Farr took a character really intended to be a bit player and earned a spot in the opening credits.

2. Colonel Klinke on Hogan's Heroes--yes, this dates me even more than the M*A*S*H references; Klinke was the archetypical bumbling authority figure--as a kid, it was hysterical; as an adult, he wouldn't have lasted a day as a Nazi POW camp commandant, but the fussiness and teetering on the edge craziness that the actor Werner Klemperer gave to Klinke was what really made the character.

3. Khan in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan--Kudos to Ricardo Montalban for playing Khan as an understated, sinister villain and a worthy adversary for the crew of the Enterprise.

4. Kanga on Winnie the Pooh--I love Kanga, because while she's a great mom to Roo, she still does more than that, participating in the adventures in the 100 Acre Wood. Proof that having a pouch doesn't limit you. ;)

5. Captain Kangaroo--one of the first children's tv hosts that didn't pander to kids, but created a gentle world where they could learn, have fun, and experience all kinds of magic, from the talking grandfather clock to the ping pong balls that dropped when the word of the day got said. Combining live action, animation and puppetry, this was a staple of my childhood & I remember it fondly.
