Yesterday I went to a wedding of the stepson of a friend of mine--it was the shortest ceremony I've ever been to (under 25 minutes). However, it was very sweet--with an adorable ringbearer and flower girl; when they walked out together during the recessional, the ringbearer had his hands held over his mouth like he was thinking "Yuck!" about walking with a girl.
The reception was fun--kind of an older crowd, surprising because the couple is only 19 and 20, but they are pretty solitary (according to his step-grandmother), so I guess that's the reason there weren't that many people their age there. The cakes were to die for, especially the groom's cake--dark and deep and ohsochocolatey (great, now I'm hungry again).
I wore a turquoise blue lacy top, dressy black capris, and black sandals, not to mention the fact that I wore my black wedding hat (I got it 2 years ago when my oldest niece got hitched, so I figured it was time to break it out again). I love wearing hats!
Today after church, a couple hosted a very classy brunch for donors to our building project--their estate is like something out of a movie set. It is huge--looks like somewhere you'd go for a weekend shooting party. They have a wonderful pool, a pond filled with koi, the most beautiful gazebos accented with flowers, and a bulldog named Otis, whose oil portrait graces the fireplace in the den. I pulled off my shoes and had a wade in the pool--felt like jumping in, but since I don't know them that well I restrained myself. If I'd had a drink or two, I might have gone right in though!
Now I'm home for a quiet relaxing evening--everybody have a good week.
