I actually have something of a love/hate relationship with modern art - sometimes I love the way it surprises me and throws me off guard, but other times I feel the artists go too far, just to fill their need to be trendy. This is definitely one case where I was happy with it, though. *g*
On my trip, we spent a day in London, and we happened upon this really interesting kind-of-modern-art exhibit outside one of their modern art museums, where a group of people were acting out silent scenes from fairy tales. And then every person who stops by gets a "passport" with some tasks they could fulfill by interacting with this world they've set up.
We didn't have time to stop by and really explore it, but it looked sort of awesome. :)
I definitely understand that. I visited the Whitney in NY and I loved the scrolling lights pieces because it appealed to my actor sensibilities. I hated the giant household objects though. Occationally modern art is awesome. Sometimes though it just doesn't move me at all.
*g* I also love modern art.
