OK, I've got to ask. *What* is up with everybody suddenly posting major spoilers for recently aired Doctor Who episodes without putting them behind text cuts? Why is it that it looks like *everybody* who watches Doctor Who has suddenly decided that if an episode has aired in the UK, it is fair game to talk about major developments (like appearances

I mean, I still haven't seen most of last season, but I'm okay with people posting spoilers for those (even though I personally wouldn't, because I'm one of those people who still cuts for FS spoilers), because yeah, it's been awhile. But, this season? This week?! WTF?
I wonder if it has something to do with the assumption I've seen in various fandoms over the last year or two -- that everyone has broadband. Dear internets: some of us are still on dial-up, kthx, and thus can't download something the moment it airs. *grumble*
One of the other Australians on my friendslist just commented today that she was glad I was watching it on TV (new season starts here tonight), because nobody else on her friendslist is going to be watching it for the first time when it airs on telly. It seems like everyone is watching it off the internets.
*hugs you for the helluvit*

And yeah, I thought about you when I saw all the spoilers start popping up everywhere. At least I *have* the episodes and I've just been too lazy to watch them, so I technically only have myself to blame for being spoiled. You don't even have the option of watching them!
*hugs you back* I'm sorry about all the spoilers around! I promise to try to be careful with the series that I do watch. :)

Aww, thanks. And hey, just looking at the titles of your recent posts in your sidebar -- Life on Mars! Woot! *is currently enjoying muchly*
Your icon has reminded me: are you familiar with Bart's recent canon?

Yeah, I stopped watching in the middle of the last season of Doctor Who -- it just wasn't as engaging as it used to be. But people were so enthusiastic about this latest season that I got all the episodes and started watching again. I haven't gotten to the episodes everybody is currently raving about, but judging by other people's reactions, I probably should. *g*

Life on Mars! Yay! I still haven't watched all of the second season -- I have all the episodes, I just... got distracted, I guess. (I am easily distractible ;) ) But I really enjoyed the first season! Did you know they are planning to make an American version of it? I shudder to think what they will come up with...

Well, we're still early in the first season here, so when we get to the second season, I will flail about it until you go back and watch it. *g*

*facepalm*
Christ, why can't anyone just leave well enough alone, these days? Everything is an adaptation or remake. One of the reasons why I love LoM is precisely because it's original.
Re: Bart: major spoilers for the most recent issue of Flash are here. However, given what you've said about ignoring new canon (a very wise move), you'd be best off not clicking. :/

This, of course, is where someone tells me that it's actually based off something else. *g*

My fear for an American LoM remake is that they will make the 70s too... flashy and formulaic, the way the 70s are usually portrayed in movies in the US. One of the reasons I like LoM is that it somehow managed to escape that trap, and portray the London of the 70s in all its ambiguous glory. I have very little faith that an American remake would be able to pull off the same thing without sinking into annoying stereotypes. *sigh* I guess we'll see.
And I did click that link, because I have no willpower. *sighs again* Yeah. I think I'll stick to imagining Bart as the Impulse I first grew to love, and ignore everything after that. I mean, come on! *boggles*
I'm... pretty glad I'm not actually in the DC fandom, and only occasionally look in on it to see what else they can mess up beyond all recognition.

Heh, yeah. *g*

Same here -- I didn't even find out about this until well after it happened. The mainstream DCverse is pretty much dead to me, at the moment. I'm not even going to consider touching it with a ten-foot pole until they bring in a new editorial team... and even then, it'll take something special. (There's a Booster Gold solo series coming up, but damnit, I am not going to buy it. *stands firm, damnit*)
DC, feh.

Yeah, it's probably not a good idea for you to read that. If Bart as the Flash can lead to... *that*, then you know where a Booster Gold solo series is going to end up, right?
Meh. They might as well kill *everybody* off and start off completely fresh.
