Where does my brain come up with this stuff?

I had a very disturbing dream last night.

I was walking diagonally through my backyard into a fictional neighbor's yard. There was a gap in the fence big enough for me to walk through. As I came up on the left side of the house I saw bits of Myrrhmur's fur all over the place. I got upset and squeamish, but I continued to walk and found an injured cat; its stomach was slit open and its guts were threatening to spill out. It wasn't acting like it was in much pain, but still, I had to rescue this cat! I picked it up carefully...as I was turning around to go back to my house, I saw another cat with basically the same injury. I ran as quickly as I could and dropped the first cat off in my garage, then went back for the second cat. I couldn't reach it before two vicious-looking dogs, one huge and completely black, the other smaller with mottled brown/black fur, stopped me in my tracks. They were growling and slavering and bearing their teeth at me. I screamed for dad as they charged at me...I was on the ground, trying to protect myself with my hands...dad came running out of the house carrying some kind of weapon...we knew they were the dogs who killed Myrrhmur, and dad was blind with rage. He told me he would "take care" of the dogs, then started bludgeoning them to death. Blood, flesh, and fur were everywhere, covering me...I was in a state of hysterics. At one point I was wearing some kind of "skin suit" made from the skin of the dogs. It was like a nightmare within a nightmare.
Suddenly all the gore disappeared, and I remembered my mission to save the injured cats. I finally went back for the second cat, then there was a third cat, and a fourth cat...I was overwhelmed with cats, all with big slits in their bellies or sides. I got them in the garage and tried to put them all in carriers so I could bring them to the animal hospital...I think I made it eventually, but that's when things started to get hazy.

I haven't had such a disturbing or violent dream in a long time. Ugh.
