Well, the day after I put a flyer in every mailbox near my house, I got a phone call.
Someone who lives on the street behind us found Myrrhmur's body in their backyard. They said she looked like she'd been attacked by another animal. By the time they got the flyer they'd already "disposed" of her (who knows if that means buried or just thrown away).
We have no proof so nothing can be done, but I know those dogs killed her, the ones that get out all the time. They probably ganged up on her, cornered her somewhere she couldn't climb up a tree...the worst part is thinking of how she suffered. I have no idea what the extent of her injuries were...I just hope she went quickly.
I miss her terribly, terribly, terribly. She was an incredible kitty. Sweet, sociable, ridiculously cute all the time, smart...her personality was wonderful and unique. I am so, so upset that her bright little life was cut short. She was barely over two years old.
No cat of mine is ever going outside again, unless they're the sort that simply can't be kept in, like Shade. He would tear the door down to get out. Myrrhmur wasn't quite at that level, but she had become a bit destructive. While we were in KC it was easier to keep her inside because there weren't other cats going outside to give her the idea. With Kodee and Shade going out all the time, she became fixated. I started letting her out with a lot of trepidation, but she generally stayed in one area of our backyard. I never let her stay out past dark. Unfortunately, you never know what can happen when other people aren't responsible for their pets. Sure, cats may roam where they aren't supposed to. But the difference between roaming cats and roaming dogs is that a cat couldn't kill a person. A cat couldn't kill a dog. A cat may kill another cat, but even that would be stretching it. Dogs kill more people than any other domesticated animal. People are far too trusting of their pets. I don't blame dogs, I blame irresponsible owners. Just because a dog acts one way around you and your family doesn't mean it's going to act that way towards everyone else.
Saffron is never, ever going outside. She begs at the door sometimes, but for the most part she seems indifferent. Mom has even decided to stop letting Kodee out except when one of us can go out with him. He meows until he gets sleepy, then he takes a nap. At least he doesn't start breaking things.

We called animal control on the neighbors and an officer is supposed to come out and investigate soon.
