I just got out of a snuggle session with Myrrhmur. She and Saffron have been transitioning into life here fairly well; Saffron has become a bit more reclusive and seeks my attention less, but she always takes a while to adjust to changes. Myrrhmur gets much angrier when I pick her up than she used to, and doesn't want to snuggle quite as often, which is why I savor the snuggles when they occur! I think they'll both lighten up as time goes on.
Today in its entirety was devoted to scraping carpet adhesive and paint off of the studio floor.
Inch by inch with a razor scraper.
We...made a dent.
You're probably thinking, "there must be an easier way to do that!" Believe me, the thought has crossed our minds. We tried grinding. We tried sanding. We tried mineral spirits. We got some "adhesive remover" that certainly would have done the job, but probably would have asphyxiated us all, so we opted against it. We even tried pouring vinegar on it, just for shits and giggles.
Nothing but water and elbow grease have worked so far. According to dad, we couldn't just paint over it because the paint wouldn't stick to the glue. Or, it might stick initially, but it would eventually start to flake off.
So, it's back to it tomorrow. Hopefully we'll finish.
(We didn't. Oh well. We did watch Edward Scissorhands and The Shining, though. Now James is on his way over and we're going to play dolls. Winona will be getting some much needed socialization!)
