Ok. If you didnt like the last chapter, I'm sorry. I thought it looked good when I was writing it, I was copying the style of a book I really enjoyed. I guess I didn't do too well, because looking at it now, it was awful. So, I'm not doing it again. Any way, its time for a new chapter.
The second I went into the hall for breakfast, I knew I couldn't stay here. I didn't belong. The people here were, well, unusual. Constance, as it turned out, was a punk goth and a schitzofrenic. Lucy seemed paranoid that something was going to come and kill her. The entire time, Jessie smiled broadly at all of us. When I was nearly done with my bacon and eggs, a fight broke out between a girl named Katie and a boy named Jason. But the weirdest thing was the monitors. They seemed cold and strange, like robots. So at the dead of night, I packed my things. Then I headed out for dorm B.
The door wasn't locked, which I found strange. I opened the door quietly, and peered inside. It was like a nursery. 12 little girl lay on small beds. One dreeser dominated an entire corner. Quietly, I slipped inside and began looking in the beds.
It was creepy. Each girl snored in unison, shifted in unison, muttered in their sleep in unison. Finally, after I was about ready to leave, I fond Alice. I shifted her. "Wake up, Alice." Her eyes fluttered open. So did the rest of the girls, but somehow, they still seemed alsleep. "What?" Every girl in the room said groogily. "Time to go," I whispered, my voice echoing. "No." Said Alice (and all of dorm B) "I'm tired." By now, I was completely freaked out. I started to pick Alice up, but stopped when every other girl in the room began to hover. I backed out of the room. "I'm sorry, Alice," I whispered, "But I have to go."
~~O~~
I was terrified, creeped out beyond beleif by what I had seen. I wanted to scream, but I had to get out of Sunset Acres first. I sneaked to the gates, to see guards. Each one in in an orange and red police outfit, and srange weapons over their shoulders. They looked like guns, but slimmer, and with a longer handle. I contempleted how to get past them, when suddenly they froze, spun around and marched off. This place was getting creppier by the minute. I slipped through the iron gate, and into...the forest? I was a homeless city girl. I'd never been to the forest in my life, ad I was terrified. It was pitch black, and I groped around for what seemed like an hour before remembering I had a flashlight. I made my way around until I thought I had a safe distance from Sunset Acres. Then, I decided to find a place to spend the night. A cave seemed like a good idea, but I couldn't find one. So I slipped up into a large tree with huge branches, branches big enough for me to sleep on. I pulled out some blankets from my pack, then slipped the backpack under my head for a pillow. It wasn't as comfortable as he beds at Sunset Acres, but I'd slept in worse conditions.
I must've dozed off, because I woke to the sound of bullets. I moved so fast I must've been a bluf, packing up my blankets.
I was about to jump down, when I heard pings coming off a tree near me. One of the pinger rolled by my feet, and I saw small, lead balls. I heard another racket from farther off. They wern't aiming for me.
But for who?
Thats when I saw her. Panting nearby, her short blonde hair was full of twigs and her clothes torn. Her freckled face was splattered with dirt.
"J..Jessie?'
I jumped down. Jessie sighed with relief. "Thank god, Lisa! I thought you were dead!" I was about to answer, when she yelled "DOWN!" A volley of lead balls flew over our heads.
"Who are those people?"
she groaned. "Guards. They've been chasing me since...well, I'll explain later. We need to leave now."
I'd just like to say, this has been my longest series yet! Woohoo!
