Hazel Eyes Chapter 2

Oct 30, 2010 22:24

Chapter 2 is out! Yay! This chapter will be a bit different...you'll see why soon. I'm not stopping Lisa, jessie and all of those people, but its an alternating view story.

It began with Ellie watching a bird.
Ellie was relaxed on her lawn. It wasn't exactly her lawn, but the whole streets. There where no fences seperating it from anyone elses, so everyine on Weston road used it. No one cared. In fact, only two families used it.
Ellie's was one of them.
The bird was a swallow, by the looks of it. The swallow circled the lawn, flew over the pond, and rested on the big, sprawling tree near Ellie. Ellie's friend Lyra was in the same tree, but Lyra didn't notice. She was to wrapped up in her book. Ellie watched the swallow. The swallow flew away. But, then, suprisingly, it came back. it didn't rest on the tree, but instead flew around the sky above Ellie aimlessly. Where was it going? Ellie thought. Home? Was it leaving home? Then the thought came too her. There were only four locations in the world, she realized. Home, leaving home, coming home, and lost, and looking for home. Was this an epiphany? Ellie had always thought of epiphany's as being great and dramatic. Big things. Not little things that came from watching birds. Was she wrong? What was an epiphany really? She decided to look it up later.
Lyra innterupted the silence by asking "What does defenestrate mean?"
"To throw out the window."
"Hmm. And ludibrious?"
"To be the center of a joke."
Ellie wondered what kind of book Lyra was reading, that had defenestrate and ludibrious on the same page. She glanced at the cover, which was a picture of a blonde movie star in a short dress embracing a tall, mysterious man. The words "Aphrodite's Curse" danced around the page in swirly pink letters. Lyra loved romances, but this seemed tacky and dumb. "How can you stand that?" Ellie said, looking at her friend. "It's deeper than it looks," Lyra replied, not looking up from Aphrodites Curse. "It's about-" "I don't care." Ellie said bluntly, rolling over on her stomach.
She peered out over the water, over the reead and the seaweed, and all of the rocks, mud and sand. Over to the old red house. If she remembered right, it was Delrose Villa, named after Hector Delrose, the founder of New Providence, where Ellie and Lyra lived.
Then she noticed the old red truck.
No one has lived in Delrose for hundreds of years, Ellie thought. Whats that truck doing there?
A couple minutes later, two kids left the car. One looked about nine or ten, the other, 15. A year younger than Ellie. The fiteen year old was a boy, with curly brown hair. The nine and ten year old was a girl with short cropped hair of the same color. They were far away, but Ellie could just make out her pink shirt with puffed sleeves.
"Get down from that tree!" Ellie called to Lyra. She groaned and hopped down from the branch she had been reclining on. "What?"
"We're going to meet the new kid.
~~~O~~~
As they got closer, Ellie realized that the boy had freckles. Ellie made a face.
She didn't like freckles.
When they reached the two kids, Lyra held out a hand. "I'm Lyra, and this is Ellie." The boy didn't shake hands with Lyra. "I'm Alan. And this," He gestured to his little sister, who was chasing a butterfly, "This is Lisa."
well, that was kind of short. In it's own way, it was an intro, but i wanted to inroduce Lisa first. Speaking of lisa, is it the same Lisa? If you said YES, then you were right! Heres a cookie for your genius! This side of the story takes place a years earlier, and keep an eye out for character's from this side on Lisa 's side, and characters from Lisa's side here!
Sorry it was kind of short, but I'm out of time.
