I can fly
But I want his wings
I can shine even in the darkness
But I crave the light that he brings
Revel in the songs that he sings
My angel Gabriel

I can love
But I need his heart
I am strong even on my own
But from him I never want to part
He's been there since the very start
My angel Gabriel
My angel Gabriel

Bless the day he came to me
Angel's wings carried him to me
Heavenly
Gabriel, by Lamb

It took a minute to Sho to react, this couldn't be happening. He started to get dressed with whatever he found on his room, not even caring about how noisy he was being at that time. Jun's words were replying inside his mind and he couldn't think about other thing.

"Aiba... he had an accident, Sho... maybe he can't make it"

Sho's parents appeared on his way as he was going towards the door, but he didn't even bother to tell them what was happening. He had to hurry, he had to go there where Aiba was.

"Maybe he can't make it"

Sho couldn't think, he drove quickly to the hospital, his tears flowing freely.

"Please, tell me this is a joke" he mumbled while got inside his car.

The way to the hospital seemed like an eternity to Sho, he couldn't believe it... Aiba...As soon as he reached the hospital he parked in the first place he could and rushed running towards the entrance. He couldn't control his voice when he asked about Aiba, and he was redirected towards the waiting area, after being informed that he was still inside the operation room. When he entered there, he found Nino sitting in the floor with his head between his knees and Jun hugging him. Sho tried to get close to them, wanting nothing than to know how was Aiba or what had happened, he wasn't expecting Nino's reaction at his presence.

"What? Mr. Perfect has decided to care now?! All of this is your fucking fault! Why are you here?!"

Sho was shocked. His fault? What did that mean? He turned his head again towards them as he heard Jun speaking.

"Nino, calm down, I called him"

"You called him? Is his fault Aiba is like this, it's because of him that my best friend has been trying to destroy himself all this month! Fuck! It's his fault he may die"

Sho stayed still while his tears kept flowing, while in front of him Jun was hugging his boyfriend tightly trying to calm him. What was that supposed to mean? What had happened this month...? It was... his fault. Sho's knees gave up and he felt to the floor crying... this was his fault. Aiba may die and it was his fault. He couldn't die... Aiba couldn't die!

They were still in the same position an hour later when a doctor came towards them. The 3 boys ran, in direction to the doctor who had a serious expression on his face.

"He received a big impact when his bike crashed, so his injuries are quite severe, it was a luck he was wearing his helmet or else the impact would have been worst. For the moment he's sedated and under observation, so the visits are restricted until he's more stable"

Sho couldn't believe this was happening. The sound of Nino punching the wall pulled him out of his thoughts.

"Now you can leave, sure your conscience is more calmed now that he's not dead, huh?"

He turned to look at the small boy, unable to say a word.

"Get out!" he shouted at him once more and then when he saw Jun placing himself between him and Nino.

"Enough Kazu" he said calmly to his boyfriend "he has the same right as you to be here, he didn't know anything."

He felt bad for causing trouble, but there's no way he was going to move from Aiba's side.

"Whatever, I need some air..." he heard Nino saying and saw him walking in the opposite direction "alone" he said before Jun could follow him.

"I'm sorry Jun...I..." he said and saw Jun's features softening while he got closer and pulled him into an embrace.

"Don't be an idiot, but understand Nino, he's scared. Aiba is all he has"

"I know...Jun" Sho asked while they separated "Is it true?...what Nino said"

His friends gaze turned worried before replying.

"After you broke up, he became like a ghost. Drinking all the time, getting into fights… it was like he was on a mission to destroy himself, Sho. We tried to make him stop, we all tried but he just didn't listen, he even started to avoid his friends, even Nino had to push and push just so he could meet him for a while. Tonight Nino was supposed to take him home, but Aiba didn't let him. Since we got the call, Nino has been blaming himself, but it was no one’s fault Sho."

Sho couldn’t say a thing, he just never imagined that Aiba could be doing that, he should have asked, if he hadn't been so stupid and scared, he could have done something to avoid this.

"Listen, going to check on Nino, I'll be right back, ok?"

Jun said as he turned around and walked in the same direction Nino left, it was then when all Sho had been holding finally broke and started to cry, thinking on how stupid he had been, that almost cost him to lose the person he loved.

A couple days later, Aiba still haven't woke up. Things between Sho and Nino were still a bit hazy but at least now, the small boy has stopped asking him to leave, not that he would listen to him, but it avoided troubles between them. It took a lot of work to Jun and Ohno -who was contacted by Nino and immediately came back from his trip - to convince him to let him stay. But it was not until Jun practically dragged Nino out of Aiba's room to take him home to rest, that Sho managed to enter to see him.

As soon as he entered the room, he saw him there, fragile, sleeping. He got closer and grabbed his hand, and, as if Aiba had been waiting for him, he saw him opening his eyes.

AIBA’S POV:

As Aiba opened his eyes, his whole body ached terribly. He tried to focus his sight, but all was too bright, making him close his eyes again. Little by little, bits of what had happened coming back to his mind. The crash, the sounds of it... and the pain before passing out.

Aiba forced himself to open his eyes again and found Sho looking at him with teary eyes.

"I... I'll go to look for a doctor"

Aiba wanted to ask him not to go, he didn't want to see him leaving again, but his throat was painfully dry and he couldn't bring himself to utter a word.

After what looked like an eternity and way too many tests from the doctor, Aiba was left alone with Sho. He still couldn't believe Sho was there in front of him... he thought he wouldn't see him again and a tear rolled down his cheek.

"Does it hurt? I can call the doctor again... and... I'll go to call Ohno and Nino they..."

"No... not yet. At least for a little more, don't leave."

It may be selfish, and Aiba knew it'd hurt more once the other would leave again, but just for that moment, he wanted to have Sho beside him.

They just stayed in silence until Aiba decided to talk, it was not fair for Sho, he had his life... it was selfish from him to make him stay there just because of his selfish wishes.

"I'm sorry for all... you... you don't have to stay, you can call Nino and Oh-chan and leave."

He didn't dare to look at Sho while saying that, because he knew he wouldn't be able to do it if so. He wanted to be with him so bad, he still wanted... but he couldn't make him stay when the other had let it clear that it was not possible.

"Why?"

"Because it's the best... I can't keep you here. I understand, so it's fine. I've been a burden for you way too long"

"No"

"Sho..."

This time finally Aiba raised his head to look at Sho, but the tears in the other's eyes broke him heart even more.

"No, I'm not leaving."

Aiba took his eyes away from Sho. This was hurting more than his all his injuries. He was hurting him again, he was being a burden for him again.

"Sho... please. Just..."

Aiba's voice was breaking by moments, why was Sho still there? Why wasn't he leaving? He couldn't... he couldn't keep hurting him anymore, not him, or Ohno or Nino. And for a moment he wished he would have died in that accident. He looked up at Sho again, making himself ready for the other guy leaving at any moment, but instead of that, Sho got closer to him and grabbed his hand again, as Aiba remembered he was doing when he had woken up.

"I'm not leaving you again, I don't wanna be without you anymore... gosh! I thought I'd lost you! You can't be asking me to leave you, I should have never left you in the first place"

"Sho...please...you're just making things harder" he said gathering all his strength to not break.

"No! You are making it hard!" Sho said and he felt tears rolling down his cheeks "Why you keep pushing me away?"

"You don't belong here, Sho..."

"No, I do belong here, and I’m staying here forever. With you....Three steps over heaven"
